Narration of the verse about being a witness and guardian
Hadith 102
102 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، قَالَ: سُفْيَانُ: قَالَ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ: وَحَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " ﴿ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا مَا دُمْتُ فِيهِمْ فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيْتَنِي كُنْتَ أَنْتَ الرَّقِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَنْتَ عَلَي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ﴾ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "As long as I was among them, I was a witness over them; when You caused me to die, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a Witness over all things."
