حَدِيثُ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Suwayd ibn Hanzalah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 16726
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ بْنُ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا سُوَيْدِ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا نُرِيدُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَمَعَنَا وَائِلُ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، فَأَخَذَهُ عَدُوٌّ لَهُ ، فَتَحَرَّجَ النَّاسُ أَنْ يَحْلِفُوا ، وَحَلَفْتُ إِنَّهُ أَخِي ، فَخَلَّى عَنْهُ ، فَأَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " أَنْتَ كُنْتَ أَبَرَّهُمْ وَأَصْدَقَهُمْ ، صَدَقْتَ الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Hanzalah that one day we set out with the intention of presenting ourselves before the Prophet (peace be upon him), and Wa’il bin Hujr was also with us. On the way, an enemy of his captured him. The people became hesitant to swear an oath, so I swore that he is my brother. Upon this, that person left him. When we presented ourselves before the Prophet (peace be upon him), I mentioned this incident as well. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Among them, you were the most virtuous and truthful; you spoke the truth, for every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim.
Hadith 16727
حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، وأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا سُوَيْدِ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا نُرِيدُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
