حَدِيثُ أَسْمَاءَ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Asma' ibn Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 16716
(حديث مرفوع) قال عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ الْبَرَاءُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ حَرْمَلَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ هِنْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ ، وَأَخُوهُ الَّذِي بَعَثَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُ قَوْمَهُ بِصِيَامِ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ ، وَهُوَ أَسْمَاءُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " مُرْ قَوْمَكَ فَلْيَصُومُوا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ " ، قَالَ : أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ وَجَدْتُهُمْ قَدْ طَعِمُوا ؟ ، قَالَ : " فَلْيُتِمُّوا آخَر يَوْمِهِمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hind bin Harithah that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) sent his brother Asma bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) to his people, who belonged to the tribe of Banu Aslam, and said: Command your people to fast on this day of Ashura. If you find among them anyone who has eaten or drunk in the earlier part of the day, then he should spend the rest of the day without eating or drinking.
