حَدِيثُ ضِرَارِ بْنِ الْأَزْوَرِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Dhirar ibn al-Azwar (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 16702
(حديث مرفوع) قال عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ بَحِيرٍ ، عَنْ ضِرَارِ بْنِ الْأَزْوَرِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يَحْلِبُ ، فَقَالَ : " دَعْ دَاعِيَ اللَّبَنِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhirar bin Azwar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by him while he was milking (an animal). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Leave enough milk in its udders so that it can be obtained again.
Hadith 16703
(حديث مرفوع) قال عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ جَارُنَا ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ الْأَثْرَمُ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَلَّامُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْقَارِئُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ ضِرَارِ بْنِ الْأَزْوَرِ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : امْدُدْ يَدَكَ أُبَايِعْكَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ ، قَالَ ضِرَارٌ : ثُمَّ قُلْتُ : تَرَكْتُ الْقِدَاحَ وَعَزْفَ الْقِيَانِ وَالْخَمْرَ تَصْلِيَةً وَابْتِهَالَا وَكَرِّي الْمُحَبَّرَ فِي غَمْرَةٍ وَحَمْلِي عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ الْقِتَالَا فَيَا رَبِّ لَا أُغْبَنَنْ سُفْقَتِي فَقَدْ بِعْتُ مَالِي وَأَهْلِي ابْتِدَالَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا غُبِنَتْ سُفْقَتُكَ يَا ضِرَار " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhirar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I presented myself in the court of the Messenger and said: Extend your hand so that I may pledge allegiance to you upon Islam. Then I recited some verses (the translation of which is as follows): I have left behind the cup, the songs of female singers, and wine, even though I had to endure hardship for it, but I did these things with humility, and in the darkness of night, I left behind fine places and placed the burden of fighting upon the polytheists. Therefore, O Lord! Protect my trade from loss, for in exchange for it I have sold my family and wealth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Dhirar! There will be no loss in your trade.
Hadith 16704
(حديث مرفوع) قال عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ بَحِيرٍ ، عَنْ ضِرَارِ بْنِ الْأَزْوَرِ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَنِي أَهْلِي بِلَقُوحٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَحْلِبَهَا ، فَحَلَبْتُهَا ، فَقَالَ : " دَعْ دَاعِيَ اللَّبَنِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhirar bin Azwar that once my family sent me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a milking she-camel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to milk her. When I started milking her, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Leave enough milk in her udders so that it can be obtained again.
Hadith 16705
(حديث مرفوع) قال عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو صَالِحٌ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَوْ عَنْ عَمِّهِ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَفَةَ ، فَأَخَذْتُ بِزِمَامِ نَاقَتِهِ أَوْ بِخِطَامِهَا ، فَدَفَعْتُ عَنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : " دَعُوهُ فَأَرَبٌ مَا جَاءَ بِهِ " ، فَقُلْتُ : نَبِّئْنِي بِعَمَلٍ يُقَرِّبُنِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَيُبْعِدُنِي مِنَ النَّارِ ، قَالَ : فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " لَئِنْ كُنْتَ أَوْجَزْتَ فِي الْخُطْبَةِ لَقَدْ أَعْظَمْتَ أَوْ أَطْوَلْتَ ، تَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ لَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا ، وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ ، وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ ، وَتَحُجُّ الْبَيْتَ ، وَتَصُومُ رَمَضَانَ ، وَتَأْتِي إِلَى النَّاسِ مَا تُحِبُّ أَنْ يأتُوه إِلَيْكَ ، وَمَا كَرِهْتَ لِنَفْسِكَ فَدَعَ النَّاسَ مِنْهُ ، خَلِّ عَنْ زِمَامِ النَّاقَةِ " .
Mughira bin Sa’d narrates from his father or uncle that in the plain of Arafat, I came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him). I held the reins of his camel. People started to push me away, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Leave him, there is some need that has brought him. I said: Please tell me of a deed that will bring me near to Paradise and keep me away from Hell? The Prophet (peace be upon him) raised his head towards the sky and said: Although your words are few, the matter is very great. Worship Allah in such a way that you do not associate anyone with Him, establish prayer, pay zakat, perform Hajj of the House of Allah, fast in the month of Ramadan, go to people in the way you would like them to come to you, and keep people away from that which you dislike for yourself. And now, let go of the camel’s rope.
