It is narrated from Sayyiduna Utban that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed the Duha prayer, and when he finished by saying salam, we also finished by saying salam. This prayer the Prophet (peace be upon him) had performed in his mosque.

Sayyiduna Itban bin Malik had extremely weak eyesight (he was almost blind). He mentioned to the Prophet (ﷺ) that he missed the congregational prayer. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "Do you hear the call to prayer (adhan)?" He replied, "Yes!" So the Prophet (ﷺ) did not grant him permission to be absent.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Itban (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I presented myself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: My eyesight is weak and there is this valley and darkness between me and you, so if you could come at some time and pray in my house, I would select that place as my prayer area. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) promised me to do so. Accordingly, one day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). When the Ansar heard of this, they began to come to visit the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but one man, whose name was Malik bin Dukhsh, was left behind and people already used to accuse him of hypocrisy. The people stayed until the time of food and began to talk among themselves. In the course of conversation, they said: He knows that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has come to us, but he has stayed behind only because of his hypocrisy. At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying. When he finished the prayer, he said: Alas! Does he not sincerely bear witness to "La ilaha illallah"? Whoever bears witness to this statement, Allah has made the fire of Hell forbidden for him.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Itban (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I presented myself before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) A flood comes between my people’s mosque and my house, so if you could come sometime and pray in my house, I would select that place as my prayer area. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) promised me to do so. Accordingly, one day the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), entered the house and said: Which place do you want to make your prayer area? I pointed to a corner of the house. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up, we formed rows behind him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led us in two rak‘ahs. We detained the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for a meal. When the Ansar heard of this, they began to come to see the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the whole house was filled. One man said: Where is Malik bin Dukhshum? Another replied: He is a hypocrite. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not say that; he recites “La ilaha illallah” seeking Allah’s pleasure. He said: We only see that his attention and conversation are inclined towards the hypocrites. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) repeated the same statement. Another man said: Why not, O Messenger of Allah! (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever comes on the Day of Judgment testifying “La ilaha illallah” seeking Allah’s pleasure, Allah has made the Fire of Hell forbidden for him. Mahmood says: When I narrated this hadith before a group in which Ayyub was present, he said: I do not think the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said “will be.” I said: When I reach Madinah and Sayyiduna ‘Itban (may Allah be pleased with him) is alive, I will surely ask him about this hadith. So when I reached there, he had become blind and was leading his people in prayer. I asked him about this hadith, and he narrated it to me just as he had narrated it before, and he was a participant of Badr.

Abu Bakr bin Anas says that my father returned from Syria, and I was with him. We met Mahmood bin Rabee’, and he narrated a hadith to my father from Sayyiduna ‘Itbaan (may Allah be pleased with him). My father said: Son! Memorize this hadith, for it is a treasure of hadith. When we returned and reached Madinah Munawwarah, we asked Sayyiduna ‘Itbaan (may Allah be pleased with him) about it. He was alive at that time, but extremely old and blind. He said: Yes!
