Hadith 16474
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid bin Abd Rabbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he and a man from the Quraysh came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the plain of Mina, at that time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was distributing the meat of the sacrifice, but neither he nor his companion received any. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) shaved his head and placed the hair in a cloth and gave it to him, and some of the hair was given to a few people as well. Then he trimmed his nails and gave them to his companion.

Sayyiduna Abdullah says that the hair of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on which henna and wasmah dye had been applied is still with us today.
Hadith 16476
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that I learned the words of the adhan in a dream and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and related this dream. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Teach these words to Bilal. So I submitted: O Messenger of Allah! Since I saw this dream, I wish to say the iqamah. Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permitted me to say the iqamah, so I gave the iqamah and Sayyiduna Bilal gave the adhan.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid bin Abd Rabbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had agreed upon the method of gathering people for prayer by ringing a bell—although the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also expressed dislike for it due to its resemblance to the Christians—then one night, in a dream, a man came to me. He was wearing two green garments and had a bell in his hand which he had lifted. I said to him, "O servant of Allah! Will you sell this bell?" He asked, "What will you do with it?" I replied, "We will ring it to call people to prayer." He said, "Shall I not tell you something better than this?" I said, "Why not." He said, "You should say like this: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadur Rasulullah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadur Rasulullah, Hayya 'ala-s-Salah, Hayya 'ala-s-Salah, Hayya 'ala-l-Falah, Hayya 'ala-l-Falah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah." Then, after a short while, he said, "When the prayer is about to begin, you should say like this," and then he recited the same words once each, and after "Hayya 'ala-l-Falah" he added "Qad qamatis salah" twice. When morning came, I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and related my dream. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "InshaAllah, this dream is true." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered the call to prayer, so Sayyiduna Bilal, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq, began to give the adhan and call people to prayer. One day, he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and gave the adhan for Fajr. Someone told him that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sleeping, so he called out in a loud voice, "As-salatu khayrun minan-nawm (Prayer is better than sleep)." Sa'id bin al-Musayyib says that from that time, this phrase was also included in the Fajr adhan.

Stand with Bilal and teach him these words, and he should call the Adhan, for his voice is louder than yours." So I stood with Sayyiduna Bilal, I would teach him these words and he would call the Adhan. When Sayyiduna Umar heard the Adhan in his house, he came out dragging his cloak and said, "By the One Who has sent you with the truth, I have also seen a similar dream." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "All praise is due to Allah."
