Hadith of Abdullah ibn Abi Rabiah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 16410
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَسْلَفَ مِنْهُ حِينَ غَزَا حُنَيْنًا ثَلَاثِينَ أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفًا ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَضَاهَا إِيَّاهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ وَمَالِكَ ، إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ السَّلَفِ الْوَفَاءُ وَالْحَمْدُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Rabiah that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was going for the Battle of Hunayn, he took thirty or forty thousand dirhams from him as a loan. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the battle, he repaid that loan to him and said: May Allah send blessings upon your wealth and your family for you. The recompense for a loan is that it is repaid, and thanks should also be expressed.
