Hadith 16379
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Walid bin Uqbah that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Makkah, the people of Makkah began bringing their children to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would place his hand on their heads and pray for them. I too was brought to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, I had applied a fragrance called khuluq, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not place his hand on my head. There was no other reason except that my mother had applied khuluq to me.
