حَدِیث عمَرَ بنِ اَبِی سَلَمَةَ رَضِیَ اللَّه تَعَالَى عَنه
Hadith of ‘Umar ibn Abi Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 16329
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُرْوَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ . وَوَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ " ، قَالَ وَكِيعٌ : فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فِي ثَوْبٍ قَدْ أَلْقَى طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah through two different chains that I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the house of Sayyidah Umm Salamah, praying in a single garment, with both its ends thrown over his shoulders.
Hadith 16330
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَجْزَةَ السَّعْدِيِّ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا عُمَرُ " ، قَالَ هِشَامٌ : " يَا بُنَيَّ ، سَمِّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ ، وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ " . قَالَ : فَمَا زَالَتْ أُكْلَتِي بَعْدُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah that once food was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me, "Umar, mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you." After that, this always remained my practice at the time of eating.
Hadith 16331
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَجْزَةَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي مُزَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا بُنَيَّ ، إِذَا أَكَلْتَ فَسَمِّ اللَّهَ ، وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ ، وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ " ، قَالَ : فَمَا زَالَتْ أُكْلَتِي بَعْدُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah that once food was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me, "Umar, mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you." Hadith 16332
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا غُلَامُ ، سَمِّ اللَّهَ ، وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ ، وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ " فَلَمْ تَزَلْ تِلْكَ طُعْمَتِي بَعْدُ ، وَكَانَتْ يَدِي تَطِيشُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah that once food was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me, "Umar, mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you." After that, this always became my habit at mealtime. Before this, my hand used to wander around in the dish.
Hadith 16333
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلًا بِهِ " .

Hadith 16335
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ ؛ جَعَلَ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah through two different chains that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the house of Sayyidah Umm Salamah, praying in a single garment, having placed both its ends over his shoulders.
Hadith 16336
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : وَذَكَرَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : " قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ " .

Hadith 16337
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْمُقْعَدِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : قُرِّبَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَعَامٌ ، فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ : " اذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ ، وَلْيَأْكُلْ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِمَّا يَلِيهِ " . قال عبد الله بن أحمد : قال أبي : إِذَا قَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَذَكَرَ ، لَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ ، يَدُلُّ عَلَى صِدْقِهِ
Hassan ibn Musa narrated to us, he said: Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to us, Abu al-Aswad narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa‘d al-Muqa‘ad, from ‘Umar ibn Abi Salamah, who said: Food was brought near to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said to his companions: "Mention the name of Allah, and let each person eat from what is in front of him." ‘Abdullah ibn Ahmad said: My father said: If Ibn Ishaq says "and he mentioned," he did not hear it; this indicates his truthfulness.
Hadith 16338
(حديث مرفوع) قَالَ عبد الله بن أحمد : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى أَبِي حَدَّثَكُمْ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو وَجْزَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ : " يَا بُنَيَّ ، ادْنُهْ ، وَسَمِّ اللَّهَ ، وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me: Mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me: Dear son, come close, mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you.
Hadith 16339
(حديث مرفوع) قال عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى أَبِي : مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَجْزَةَ السَّعْدِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : دَعَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِطَعَامٍ يَأْكُلُهُ ، فَقَالَ : " ادْنُ ، فَسَمِّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ ، وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Dear son, come close, mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you."
Hadith 16340
(حديث مرفوع) قال عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى أَبِي : مَنْصُورُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَوْ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو وَجْزَةَ السَّعْدِيُّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُمَرَ بْنَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ رَبِيبَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : دَعَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " ادْنُ يَا بُنَيَّ ، فَسَمِّ ، وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Abi Salamah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Dear son, come close, mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you."
Hadith 16340M
قال عبد الله بن أحمد : حَدَّثَنَا لُوَيْنٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَجْزَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
