حَدِیث مطَرِّفِ بنِ عَبدِ اللَّهِ عَن اَبِیهِ رَضِیَ اللَّه تَعَالَى عَنهمَا
Hadith of Mutarrif ibn ‘Abdullah from his father (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 16304
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ . وَبَهْزٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : قَتَادَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفًا ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَوْمِ الدَّهْرِ ، قَالَ : " مَا صَامَ وَمَا أَفْطَرَ ، أَوْ لَا صَامَ وَلَا أَفْطَرَ " وَقَالَ بَهْزٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : " لَا صَامَ وَلَا أَفْطَرَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding fasting every day continuously (Saum al-Dahr): Such a person neither truly fasts nor truly breaks the fast.
Hadith 16305
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا انْتَهَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : وَقَالَ وَكِيعٌ مَرَّةً : انْتَهَى إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ حَتَّى زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ قَالَ : " يَقُولُ ابْنُ آدَمَ مَالِي مَالِي ، وَهَلْ لَكَ مِنْ مَالِكَ إِلَّا مَا تَصَدَّقْتَ فَأَمْضَيْتَ ، أَوْ لَبِسْتَ فَأَبْلَيْتَ ، أَوْ أَكَلْتَ فَأَفْنَيْتَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) while he was reciting Surah At-Takathur. The son of Adam says, "My wealth, my wealth," while your wealth is only that which you have given in charity and sent ahead, or worn and worn out, or eaten and finished.
Hadith 16306
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " أَلْهَاكُمْ التَّكَاثُرُ ، يَقُولُ ابْنُ آدَمَ : مَالِي مَالِي ، وَمَا لَكَ مِنْ مَالِكَ إِلَّا مَا أَكَلْتَ فَأَفْنَيْتَ ، أَوْ لَبِسْتَ فَأَبْلَيْتَ ، أَوْ تَصَدَّقْتَ فَأَمْضَيْتَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) while he was reciting Surah At-Takathur. Hadith 16307
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : أَنْتَ سَيِّدُ قُرَيْشٍ ؟ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " السَّيِّدُ اللَّهُ " ، قَالَ : أَنْتَ أَفْضَلُهَا فِيهَا قَوْلًا ، وَأَعْظَمُهَا فِيهَا طَوْلًا ؟ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لِيَقُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِقَوْلِهِ وَلَا يَسْتَجِرُّهُ الشَّيْطَانُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Shukhair that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "You are the chief and master of the Quraysh." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The true Master is Allah alone." The man said, "You are the most virtuous among the Quraysh in terms of speech and the greatest in generosity and magnanimity." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Say such words that the devil does not mislead you and gain dominance over you."
Hadith 16308
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسُئِلَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ يَصُومُ الدَّهْرَ ، قَالَ : " لَا صَامَ وَلَا أَفْطَرَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about fasting every day of the year. He replied: Such a person neither truly fasts nor truly breaks the fast.
Hadith 16309
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Alaa bin Shukhair narrates from his father: I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) praying while wearing shoes.
Hadith 16310
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي ، ثُمَّ تَنَخَّمُ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ ، ثُمَّ دَلَكَهَا بِنَعْلِهِ وَهِيَ فِي رِجْلِهِ " .
Abu Alaa bin Shukhair narrates from his father: I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he was praying, and during this, he threw the nasal discharge under his foot and rubbed it with his shoe which he was wearing on his foot.
Hadith 16311
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ ، حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلَانُ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ وَفَدَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَهْطٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَيْنَاهُ ، فَسَلَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ ، فَقُلْنَا : أَنْتَ وَلِيُّنَا ، وَأَنْتَ سَيِّدُنَا ، وَأَنْتَ أَطْوَلُ عَلَيْنَا . قَالَ يُونُسُ وَأَنْتَ أَطْوَلُ عَلَيْنَا طَوْلًا ، وَأَنْتَ أَفْضَلُنَا عَلَيْنَا فَضْلًا ، وَأَنْتَ الْجَفْنَةُ الْغَرَّاءُ . فَقَالَ : " قُولُوا قَوْلَكُمْ ، وَلَا يَسْتَجِرَّنَّكُمْ الشَّيْطَانُ " ، قَالَ : وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ : " وَلَا يَسْتَهْوِيَنَّكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Shukhair that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "You are the chief and master of the Quraysh." Hadith 16312
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " وَفِي صَدْرِهِ أَزِيزٌ كَأَزِيزِ الْمِرْجَلِ مِنَ الْبُكَاءِ " ، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : لَمْ يَقُلْ مِنَ الْبُكَاءِ إِلَّا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that I once saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and, due to excessive weeping and lamentation, such sounds were coming from his blessed chest as are produced by a boiling pot.
Hadith 16313
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " فَتَنَخَّعَ ، فَدَلَكَهَا بِنَعْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى " .
Abu Alaa bin Shakheer narrates from his father that he prayed with the Prophet (peace be upon him), and the Prophet threw the nasal discharge from under his foot and wiped it with his left shoe.
Hadith 16314
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ يَعْنِي الطَّوِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَوَامَّ الْإِبِلِ نُصِيبُهَا ؟ ، قَالَ : " ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that a man submitted in the court of the Messenger: O Messenger of Allah! Can we catch lost camels? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: To use a lost belonging of a Muslim without right is the fire of Hell.
Hadith 16315
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَامَ الدَّهْرَ لَا صَامَ وَلَا أَفْطَرَ ، أوْ مَا صَامَ وَلَا أَفْطَرَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding perpetual fasting: Such a person neither fasts nor breaks the fast.
Hadith 16316
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ . قَالَ : حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفًا ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : أَنْتَ سَيِّدُ قُرَيْشٍ ؟ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " السَّيِّدُ اللَّهُ " ، فَقَالَ : أَنْتَ أَفْضَلُهَا فِيهَا قَوْلًا ، وَأَعْظَمُهَا فِيهَا طَوْلًا ؟ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لِيَقُلْ أَحَدُكُمْ بِقَوْلِهِ ، وَلَا يَسْتَجِرَّنَّهُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَوْ الشَّيَاطِينُ " .

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Say such words that Satan does not mislead you and gain dominance over you."
Hadith 16317
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ : انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ " يُصَلِّي ، وَلِصَدْرِهِ أَزِيزٌ كَأَزِيزِ الْمِرْجَلِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that I once saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) and, due to excessive weeping and lamentation, such sounds were coming from his blessed chest as are produced by a boiling pot.
Hadith 16318
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنْ صَوْمِ الدَّهْرِ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ : " لَا صَامَ وَلَا أَفْطَرَ " أَوْ قَالَ : " لَمْ يَصُمْ وَلَمْ يُفْطِرْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding perpetual fasting: Such a person neither fasts nor breaks the fast.
Hadith 16319
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ " ، قَالَ : " فَتَنَخَّعَ ، فَتَفَلَهُ تَحْتَ نَعْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى " . قَالَ ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُهُ : " حَكَّهَا بِنَعْلَيْهِ " .
Abu Alaa bin Shukhair narrates from his father: I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) performing prayer, and during it, he spat nasal mucus under his foot and rubbed it with his shoe which he was wearing on his foot.
Hadith 16320
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَوْ سُئِلَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ يَصُومُ الدَّهْرَ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا صَامَ وَلَا أَفْطَرَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding perpetual fasting: Such a person neither fasts nor breaks the fast.
Hadith 16321
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُصَلِّي ، وَيَبْزَقَ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى " .
Abu Alaa bin Shukhair narrates from his father that once you were praying, and during this, you spat under your left foot.
Hadith 16322
(حديث مرفوع) أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " وَيَقُولُ ابْنُ آدَمَ مَالِي مَالِي ، وَهَلْ لَكَ مِنْ مَالِكَ إِلَّا مَا أَكَلْتَ فَأَفْنَيْتَ ، أَوْ لَبِسْتَ فَأَبْلَيْتَ ، أَوْ تَصَدَّقْتَ فَأَمْضَيْتَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The son of Adam says, "My wealth, my wealth," while your wealth is only that which you have sent forward as charity, or worn out by wearing, or consumed and finished by eating.
Hadith 16323
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَكَانَ أَبُوهُ قَدْ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ صَامَ الدَّهْرَ ، فَلَا صَامَ وَلَا أَفْطَرَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding perpetual fasting: Such a person neither fasts nor breaks the fast.
Hadith 16324
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : دُفِعْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ " يَقْرَأُ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ أَلْهَاكُمْ التَّكَاثُرُ . فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ سَوَاءً ، وَلَيْسَ فِيهِ قَوْلُ قَتَادَةَ ، يَعْنِي مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ هَمَّامٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that once I was present in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at that time he was reciting Surah At-Takathur, then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : عَبْد اللَّهِ بن أحمد : وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الرَّاسِبِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي غَيْلَانُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ " يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا أَوْ قَائِمًا وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ أَلْهَاكُمْ التَّكَاثُرُ حَتَّى خَتَمَهَا " .
Abdullah ibn Muhammad narrated to us, he said: Abdullah ibn Ahmad: and I heard it myself from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Shaybah, he said: Zayd ibn al-Hubab narrated to us, from Shaddad ibn Sa'id Abu Talhah al-Rasibi, he said: Ghaylan ibn Jarir narrated to me, from Mutarrif ibn Abdullah ibn al-Shikhkhir, from his father, he said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he was "praying sitting or standing, and he was reciting Alhakum al-Takathur until he completed it."
Hadith 16326
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ " يُصَلِّي ، وَلِصَدْرِهِ أَزِيزٌ كَأَزِيزِ الْمِرْجَلِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that I once saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and, due to excessive weeping and lamentation, such sounds were coming from his blessed chest as are produced by a boiling pot.
Hadith 16327
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ حَتَّى زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ قَالَ فَقَالَ : " يَقُولُ ابْنُ آدَمَ مَالِي مَالِي ، وَهَلْ لَكَ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ مِنْ مَالِكَ إِلَّا مَا أَكَلْتَ فَأَفْنَيْتَ ، أَوْ لَبِسْتَ فَأَبْلَيْتَ ، أَوْ تَصَدَّقْتَ فَأَمْضَيْتَ " ، وَكَانَ قَتَادَةُ يَقُولُ : كُلُّ صَدَقَةٍ لَمْ تُقْبَضْ فَلَيْسَ بِشَيْءٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) while he was reciting Surah At-Takathur. The son of Adam says, "My wealth, my wealth," while your wealth is only that which you have given in charity and sent ahead, or worn and worn out, or eaten and finished.
Hadith 16328
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ دَخَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ . فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ عَفَّانَ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ قَوْلَ قَتَادَةَ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
