Kilab replied, "Ziyad has appointed me as the person in charge of this place." He said, "Shall I not tell you a hadith which I heard from the Prophet (ﷺ)?" Kilab said, "Why not?" He said, "I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: Allah’s Prophet, Sayyiduna Dawud, used to wake up his family at a specific time of the night and say, 'O family of Dawud, get up and pray, for at this time Allah accepts supplications, except for a magician or a collector of ‘ushr.'" Upon hearing this, Kilab bin Umayyah boarded his boat, went to Ziyad, and resigned. Ziyad accepted his resignation.
