Hadith of Aws ibn Abi Aws al-Thaqafi, who is Aws ibn Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 16156
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى كِظَامَةَ قَوْمٍ ، فَتَوَضَّأَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws bin Aws that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) come to a water channel and perform ablution from it.
Hadith 16157
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُؤْتَى بِنَعْلَيْهِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي ، فَيَلْبَسُهُمَا ، وَيَقُولُ : " إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that if he was praying and someone brought his shoes, he would put them on during the prayer and say: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying while wearing shoes.
Hadith 16158
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَعْلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) perform ablution, wipe over his sandals, and then stand for prayer.
Hadith 16159
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى فِي نَعْلَيْهِ وَاسْتَوْكَفَ ثَلَاثًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying while wearing shoes, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wash his hands three times.
Hadith 16160
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَوْسًا ، يَقُولُ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَفْدِ ثَقِيفٍ ، فَكُنَّا فِي قُبَّةٍ ، فَقَامَ مَنْ كَانَ فِيهَا غَيْرِي وَغَيْرَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَسَارَّهُ ، فَقَالَ : " اذْهَبْ فَاقْتُلْهُ " ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَلَيْسَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ؟ " قَالَ : بَلَى ، وَلَكِنَّهُ يَقُولُهَا تَعَوُّذًا ، فَقَالَ : " رُدَّهُ " ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، فَإِذَا قَالُوهَا حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيَّ دِمَاؤُهُمْ وَأَمْوَالُهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا " ، فَقُلْتُ لِشُعْبَةَ : أَلَيْسَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَلَيْسَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ؟ " قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : أَظُنُّهَا مَعَهَا وَمَا أَدْرِي .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that I was present in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with the delegation of Banu Thaqif. While we were still in the tent, everyone except me and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had gotten up and left, when a man came and began to whisper to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go and kill him. Then he said: Does he not bear witness that there is no god but Allah? He replied: Why not, but he says this word to save his life. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Leave him. I have been commanded to fight the people until they say there is no god but Allah. When they say this sentence, their lives and wealth become protected except for the right of this word.
Hadith 16161
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ ، فَغَسَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ رَأْسَهُ ، وَاغْتَسَلَ ، ثُمَّ غَدَا أَوْ ابْتَكَرَ ، ثُمَّ دَنَا ، فَاسْتَمَعَ وَأَنْصَتَ ، كَانَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ خَطَاهَا ، كَصِيَامِ سَنَةٍ وَقِيَامِ سَنَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Friday comes, if any one of you washes his head and performs ghusl, then sets out in the earliest time, sits near the khateeb, listens silently and attentively, then for every step he takes, he will receive the reward of fasting for a year and standing in prayer for a year.
Hadith 16162
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مِنْ أَفْضَلِ أَيَّامِكُمْ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ ، فِيهِ خُلِقَ آدَمُ ، وَفِيهِ قُبِضَ ، وَفِيهِ النَّفْخَةُ ، وَفِيهِ الصَّعْقَةُ ، فَأَكْثِرُوا عَلَيَّ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ فِيهِ ، فَإِنَّ صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعْرُوضَةٌ عَلَيَّ " ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَكَيْفَ تُعْرَضُ عَلَيْكَ صَلَاتُنَا وَقَدْ أَرِمْتَ يَعْنِي وَقَدْ بَلِيتَ ؟ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حَرَّمَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ أَنْ تَأْكُلَ أَجْسَادَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ " . صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best of your days is Friday. On this day, Adam was created and on this day he passed away. On this day the trumpet will be blown and unconsciousness will befall (the creatures). Therefore, send abundant blessings upon me on this day, for your blessings are presented to me. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! When your bones have decayed, how will our blessings be presented to you? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah has made it forbidden for the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets.
Hadith 16163
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ السَّهْمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ أَوْسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَوْسًا أَخْبَرَهُ ، قَالَ : إِنَّا لَقُعُودٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الصُّفَّةِ وَهُوَ يَقُصُّ عَلَيْنَا وَيُذَكِّرُنَا إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ ، فَسَارَّهُ ، فَقَالَ : " اذْهَبُوا فَاقْتُلُوهُ " ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا وَلَّى الرَّجُلُ ، دَعَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أَيَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ " ، قَالَ الرَّجُلُ : نَعَمْ ، نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ : " اذْهَبُوا فَخَلُّوا سَبِيلَهُ ، فَإِنَّمَا أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيَّ دِمَاؤُهُمْ وَأَمْوَالُهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that once we were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at Suffah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was advising and admonishing us when a man came and began to whisper to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go and kill him. Then he said: Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah? He replied: Of course, but he says this word to save his life. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Leave him. I have been commanded to fight people until they say there is no god but Allah. When they say this sentence, their lives and wealth become protected except by the right of Islam.
Hadith 16164
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يُونُسَ حَاتِمُ بْنُ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ ، أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ أَوْسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَوْسٍ قَالَ : إِنَّا لَقُعُودٌ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحَدِّثُنَا وَيُوصِينَا إِذْ أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 16165
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ أَبِي يَوْمًا " تَوَضَّأَ ، فَمَسَحَ النَّعْلَيْنِ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَتَمْسَحُ عَلَيْهِمَا ؟ ، فَقَالَ : هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that one day I saw my father wiping over his shoes, so I said to him, "You are wiping over your shoes?" He replied, "I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) doing the same."
Hadith 16166
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الطَّائِفِيُّ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَوْسِ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ فِي الْوَفْدِ الَّذِينَ أَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْلَمُوا مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ مِنْ بَنِي مَالِكٍ ، أَنْزَلَنَا فِي قُبَّةٍ لَهُ ، فَكَانَ يَخْتَلِفُ إِلَيْنَا بَيْنَ بُيُوتِهِ وَبَيْنَ الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَإِذَا صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ ، انْصَرَفَ إِلَيْنَا وَلَا نَبْرَحُ حَتَّى يُحَدِّثَنَا ، وَيَشْتَكِي قُرَيْشًا ، وَيَشْتَكِي أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : " لَا سَوَاءَ ، كُنَّا بِمَكَّةَ مُسْتَذَلِّينَ وَمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ كَانَتْ سِجَالُ الْحَرْبِ عَلَيْنَا وَلَنَا " . فَمَكَثَ عَنَّا لَيْلَةً لَمْ يَأْتِنَا حَتَّى طَالَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا : مَا أَمْكَثَكَ عَنَّا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " طَرَأَ عَلَيَّ حِزْبٌ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ ، فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ لَا أَخْرُجَ حَتَّى أَقْضِيَهُ " ، قَالَ : فَسَأَلْنَا أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ أَصْبَحْنَا ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا : كَيْفَ تُحَزِّبُونَ الْقُرْآنَ ؟ ، قَالُوا : نُحَزِّبُهُ ثَلَاثَ سُوَرٍ ، وَخَمْسَ سُوَرٍ ، وَسَبْعَ سُوَرٍ ، وَتِسْعَ سُوَرٍ ، وَإِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ سُورَةً ، وَثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ سُورَةً ، وَحِزْبَ الْمُفَصَّلِ مِنْ قَافْ حَتَّى يُخْتَمَ .
Sayyiduna Aws bin Huzayfah narrates that we came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) with the delegation of Thaqeef. The Prophet (peace be upon him) accommodated us, Banu Malik, in one of his tents. Every night after ‘Isha, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would come to us and converse with us, and he would mostly tell us about the attitude of the Quraysh towards him. He would say: “We and they were not equal, for we were weak and under apparent pressure. When we came to Madinah, the struggle between us and them began; sometimes we would prevail over them, and sometimes they would prevail over us.” One night, he came a little later than usual, so I said: “O Messenger of Allah, you have come later tonight.” He replied: “A portion of my recitation of the Qur’an was left, and I did not like to come out until I had completed it.” Sayyiduna Aws says: We asked the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) how they divided the recitation of the Qur’an. They told us: Three surahs (after Al-Fatihah: Al-Baqarah, Aal-e-Imran, and An-Nisa’), then five surahs (from Al-Ma’idah to the end of At-Tawbah), then seven (from Yunus to An-Nahl), then nine (from Bani Isra’il to Al-Furqan), then eleven surahs (from Ash-Shu’ara to Ya-Sin), then thirteen surahs (from As-Saffat to Al-Hujurat), and the last portion of Al-Mufassal (from Qaf to the end).
Hadith 16167
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى فِي نَعْلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed while wearing shoes.
Hadith 16168
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ أوْس بْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " تَوَضَّأَ ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَعْلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that he performed ablution and wiped over his shoes.
Hadith 16169
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ جَدُّهُ أَوْسُ بْنُ أَبِي أَوْسٍ كَانَ يُصَلِّي ، وَيُومِئُ إِلَى نَعْلَيْهِ وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، فَيَأْخُذُهُمَا فَيَنْتَعِلُهُمَا وَيُصَلِّي فِيهِمَا ، وَيَقُولُ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ " .

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَوْسٍ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ وَاسْتَوْكَفَ ثَلَاثًا " أَيْ غَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ .

Hadith 16171
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَوْسٍ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " تَوَضَّأَ ، فَاسْتَوْكَفَ ثَلَاثًا " يَعْنِي غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ، فَقُلْتُ لِشُعْبَةَ : أَدْخَلَهُمَا فِي الْإِنَاءِ أَوْ غَسَلَهُمَا خَارِجًا ؟ ، قَالَ : لَا أَدْرِي .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying while wearing shoes, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wash his hands three times.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ غَسَّلَ وَاغْتَسَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، وَبَكَّرَ وَابْتَكَرَ ، وَمَشَى وَلَمْ يَرْكَبْ ، فَدَنَا مِنَ الْإِمَامِ ، فَاسْتَمَعَ وَلَمْ يَلْغُ ، كَانَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ عَمَلُ سَنَةٍ أَجْرُ صِيَامِهَا وَقِيَامِهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Friday comes, if a person performs ghusl, then sets out early, sits near the khateeb, remains silent, and listens attentively, then for every step he takes, he will receive the reward of fasting for one year and standing in prayer for one year.
Hadith 16174
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَوْسُ بْنُ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " ثُمَّ غَدَا وَابْتَكَرَ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 16175
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَوْسُ بْنُ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَذَكَرَ الْجُمُعَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ غَسَّلَ وَاغْتَسَلَ ، ثُمَّ غَدَا وَابْتَكَرَ ، وَخَرَجَ يَمْشِي وَلَمْ يَرْكَبْ ، ثُمَّ دَنَا مِنَ الْإِمَامِ ، فَأَنْصَتَ له وَلَمْ يَلْغُ ، كَانَ لَهُ كَأَجْرِ سَنَةٍ صِيَامِهَا وَقِيَامِهَا " قَالَ : وَزَعَمَ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّهُ حَفِظَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ كَأَجْرِ سَنَةٍ صِيَامِهَا وَقِيَامِهَا " . قَالَ يَحْيَى وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يَقُولُ : " مَشَى وَلَمْ يَرْكَبْ " .

Hadith 16176
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ اغْتَسَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، وَغَسَّلَ ثُمَّ ابْتَكَرَ وَغَدَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ، ثُمَّ جَلَسَ قَرِيبًا مِنَ الْإِمَامِ حَتَّى يُنْصِتَ ، كَانَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ خَطَاهَا عَمَلُ سَنَةٍ صِيَامُهَا وَقِيَامُهَا " .

Hadith 16177
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَوْسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ جَدِّي أَوْسٌ أَحْيَانًا يُصَلِّي ، فَيُشِيرُ إِلَيَّ وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، فَأُعْطِيهِ نَعْلَيْهِ ، وَيَقُولُ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that if he was praying and someone brought his shoes, he would put them on during the prayer and say that he had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying while wearing shoes.
Hadith 16178
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عِيسَى ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ غَسَّلَ وَاغْتَسَلَ ثُمَّ غَدَا ، فَابْتَكَرَ وَجَلَسَ مِنَ الْإِمَامِ قَرِيبًا ، فَاسْتَمَعَ وَأَنْصَتَ ، كَانَ بِكُلِّ خَطْوَةٍ أَجْرُ سَنَةٍ صِيَامُهَا وَقِيَامُهَا " .

Hadith 16179
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ فُلَانًا ، أَوْسٌ جَدُّهُ ، قَالَ : كَانَ جَدِّي يَقُولُ لِي وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ يُومِئُ إِلَيَّ نَاوِلْنِي النَّعْلَيْنِ ، فَأُنَاوِلُهُمَا إِيَّاهُ ، فَيَلْبَسُهُمَا ، وَيُصَلِّي فِيهِمَا ، وَيَقُولُ : " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that if he was praying and someone brought his shoes, he would put them on during the prayer and say that he had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying while wearing shoes.
Hadith 16180
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ أَوْسٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ " أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَاسْتَوْكَفَ ثَلَاثًا " . قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَيُّ شَيْءٍ اسْتَوْكَفَ ثَلَاثًا ؟ قَالَ : غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing ablution, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took water in his palm three times. I asked for what purpose? He replied: For washing the hands.
Hadith 16181
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي عَلَى مَاءٍ مِنْ مِيَاهِ الْعَرَبِ ، " فَتَوَضَّأَ ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَعْلَيْهِ " ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : مَا أَزِيدُكَ عَلَى مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws that one day I saw my father wiping over his shoes at a spring in Arabia, so I said to him, "You are wiping over your shoes?" He replied, "I have not added anything to the way I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do it."
