حَدِیث قَیسِ بنِ اَبِی غَرَزَةَ رَضِیَ اللَّه تَعَالَى عَنه
Hadith of Qays ibn Abi Gharzah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 16134
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَة َ ، عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ ، وَعَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي غَرَزَةَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا نُسَمَّى السَّمَاسِرَةَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَتَانَا بِالْبَقِيعِ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ فَسَمَّانَا بِاسْمٍ أَحْسَنَ مِنَ اسْمِنَا إِنَّ الْبَيْعَ يَحْضُرُهُ الْحَلِفُ وَالْكَذِبُ ، فَشُوبُوهُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qais bin Abi Ghazrah that in the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ), we traders were previously called brokers (samasirah). One day, the Prophet (ﷺ) came to us and said: "O group of traders," the Prophet (ﷺ) addressed us with a better name than before. In trade, oaths and false statements also occur, therefore, mix charity and alms with it.
Hadith 16135
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي غَرَزَةَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا نَبْتَاعُ الْأَوْسَاقَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، وَكُنَّا نُسَمَّى السَّمَاسِرَةَ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَمَّانَا بِاسْمٍ هُوَ أَحْسَنُ مِمَّا كُنَّا نُسَمِّي بِهِ أَنْفُسَنَا ، فَقَالَ : " يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ ، إِنَّ هَذَا الْبَيْعَ يَحْضُرُهُ اللَّغْوُ وَالْحَلِفُ ، فَشُوبُوهُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ " .

Hadith 16136
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي غَرَزَةَ ، قَالَ : أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ فِي السُّوقِ ، فَقَالَ " إِنَّ هَذِهِ السُّوقَ يُخَالِطُهَا اللَّغْوُ وَحَلِفٌ ، فَشُوبُوهَا بِصَدَقَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qais bin Abi Ghazrah that one day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us in the market and said: Oaths and false statements often occur in trade, so mix charity and alms into it.
Hadith 16137
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ أَخْبَرَنِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي غَرَزَةَ ، قَالَ : خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ نَبِيعُ الرَّقِيقَ ، نُسَمَّى السَّمَاسِرَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ ، إِنَّ بَيْعَكُمْ هَذَا يُخَالِطُهُ لَغْوٌ وَحَلِفٌ ، فَشُوبُوهُ بِصَدَقَةٍ ، أَوْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ " .

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي غَرَزَةَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا نُسَمَّى عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السَّمَاسِرَةَ ، فَمَرَّ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَمَّانَا بِاسْمٍ هُوَ أَحْسَنُ مِنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ ، إِنَّ هَذَا الْبَيْعَ يَحْضُرُهُ اللَّغْوُ وَالْحَلِفُ ، فَشُوبُوهُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ " .

Hadith 16140
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَوَّامُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ مَوْلَى صُخَيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ ,أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَنْهَى عَنْ بَيْعٍ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهَا مَعَايِشُنَا ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ : " لَا خِلَابَ إِذًا " وَكُنَّا نُسَمَّى السَّمَاسِرَةَ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
