It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Ahwas that he was present with the Prophet (peace be upon him) at the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If a person commits a crime, he himself will bear its punishment. A father will not be held accountable for the crime of his child, nor will a child be held accountable for the crime of his father.
