Aleem says that once we were sitting on a roof, and with us was a companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Sayyiduna Abas. People were leaving that area because of the plague. Sayyiduna Abas said, "O plague, take hold of me." He said this sentence three times. Aleem said to him, "Why are you saying such things? Did the Prophet (peace be upon him) not say that none of you should wish for death, because with death deeds are cut off? It may be that if he is given life, he will be granted the ability to repent." So he replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: 'Hasten towards death before six things: the rule of fools, the abundance of police, the selling of justice, murder being considered insignificant, severing of family ties, and the emergence of a new generation who recite the Noble Qur'an in a singing manner as if it were music, though their understanding is even less than others.'"
