Hadith 15803
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar that we used to give land on sharecropping and did not consider there to be any harm in it. Later, Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) informed us that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade this, so we abandoned it.
Hadith 15804
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: The hand will be cut off for stealing fruit while it is still on the tree.
Hadith 15805
Abdul Wahid bin Nafi says that once I was passing near a mosque in Madinah Munawwarah when I saw that the iqamah for prayer was being called and an elder was reproaching the muezzin, saying, "Do you not know that my father told me this hadith, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to order for this prayer to be delayed?" I asked the people, "Who is this elder?" They told me, "This is Abdullah bin Rafi bin Khudayj (may Allah be pleased with him)."
Hadith 15806
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the presence of the Messenger: O Messenger of Allah! Yesterday we encountered the enemy with our animals, while we had no knife with us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever causes the animal's blood to flow, apart from teeth and nails, and Allah's name is mentioned over it, you may eat from it. And let me tell you the reason: the tooth is a bone, and the nail is the knife of the Abyssinians. Meanwhile, some camels were received as spoils of war by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and one of the camels ran away. People tried hard to catch it but could not succeed. Finally, a man aimed and shot an arrow at it, and thus brought it under control. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sometimes these animals also become wild like wild animals. When you are unable to overpower an animal, then do with it as you did now.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that once they were on a journey with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) camped for food, every man tied his camel’s rope to a tree and let them graze among the trees. Then we came and sat with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Our camels had saddles fastened on them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once raised his head and saw that there were striped red woolen saddlecloths on our camels. Upon seeing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “I see that this red color has become your weakness.” Hearing this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we got up so quickly that some camels started running away. We grabbed their saddlecloths and took them off.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade us from something which used to be beneficial for us, but obedience to Allah and His Messenger is even more beneficial for us. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever has land, let him cultivate it himself, and if he cannot do so himself, then let him give permission to his brother.
Hadith 15809
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), people used to lease cultivable land in exchange for vegetables, water channels, and some husk. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not consider it good to lease it in exchange for these things, so he forbade it. However, there is no harm in leasing it in exchange for dirhams or dinars.
Hadith 15810
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Fever is a result of the heat of Hell, so cool it with water."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade "haql." The narrator asked what is meant by "haql." He replied: to give land on sharecropping in exchange for a third or a quarter. Upon hearing this hadith, Ibrahim also gave the verdict of its dislike, and he did not consider it objectionable to take land in exchange for dirhams.
Hadith 15812

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi’ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the presence of the Messenger: O Messenger of Allah! When you are overpowered by an animal, do with it as you would with a wild animal. And while distributing the spoils of war, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would consider ten goats equivalent to one camel.
Hadith 15814
Muhammad bin Yahya says that a slave of Nu'man Ansari stole a few dates from a garden. This case was presented before Marwan, and he intended to cut off his hand. Upon this, Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The hand is not to be cut off for stealing fruit or unripe dates.

Usaid bin Zuhair says that when any one of us became independent of his land, he would give it to others for a third, a quarter, or a half share, and would set three conditions: the produce near the canals, the husk, and the vegetables. At that time, life was very difficult and hard; people used to work with iron, etc., but they would get profit in this work. One day, Sayyiduna Rafi’ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us and said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has forbidden you from something that could have been beneficial for you, but obedience to Allah and His Messenger is even more beneficial for you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has prohibited leasing land, saying: Whoever has land should cultivate it himself, and if he cannot do it himself, he should allow his brother to do it. And he forbade muzabana, which means that a person has a lot of dates, and another man comes to him and says: I have taken this produce from you in exchange for such-and-such a measure of dates.
Hadith 15816
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar that we used to give land on sharecropping and did not consider there to be any harm in it. Later, Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) informed us that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade this, so we abandoned it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to give land on sharecropping for one-third, one-fourth, or for a fixed amount of grain as rent. But one day, one of my uncles came to me and said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has forbidden us from an act which was beneficial for us, but obedience to Allah and His Messenger is more beneficial. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from giving land on sharecropping, or for one-third, one-fourth, or for a fixed amount of grain as rent, and ordered the owner of the land to either cultivate it himself or allow someone else to do so, but renting it out or other such forms were disliked by him.
Hadith 15824
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar that we used to give land on sharecropping and did not consider there to be any harm in it. Later, Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) informed us that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade this, so we abandoned it.
