حَدِيثُ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Suwayd ibn al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 15799
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ بُشَيْرَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سُوَيْدَ بْنَ النُّعْمَانِ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الشَّجَرَةِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَلَمْ يَكُنْ عِنْدَهُمْ طَعَامٌ ، قَالَ : " فَأَتَوْا بِسَوِيقٍ ، فَلَاكُوا مِنْهُ ، وَشَرِبُوا مِنْهُ ، ثُمَّ أَتَوْا بِمَاءٍ فَمَضْمَضُوا ، ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَصَلَّى " .
Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Nu'man, who was among the Companions of the Tree, says that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) was on a journey when the people had nothing to eat. They found some sattu (barley flour), which they swallowed, and then drank water over it. Then he rinsed his mouth with water, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) led them in prayer while standing.
Hadith 15800
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ خَيْبَرَ ، حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا بِالصَّهْبَاءِ ، " وَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ ، دَعَا بِالْأَطْعِمَةِ فَمَا أُتِيَ إِلَّا بِسَوِيقٍ ، فَأَكَلُوا وَشَرِبُوا مِنْهُ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى الْمَغْرِبِ ، فَمَضْمَضَ ، وَمَضْمَضْنَا مَعَهُ ، وَمَا مَسَّ مَاءً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Nu'man that in the year of the conquest of Khaybar, we set out with the Prophet (ﷺ). When we reached the place of Sahba, the Prophet (ﷺ) had already led the Asr prayer. Then food was requested, but only sattu (roasted barley flour) could be presented. The people ate that and drank water over it. Then they rinsed their mouths with water, and the Prophet (ﷺ) led them in prayer while standing.
