حَدِيثُ سُهَيْلِ ابْنِ الْبَيْضَاءِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadith of Suhail ibn al-Bayda from the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 15738
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ ابْنِ الْبَيْضَاءِ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ فِي سَفَرٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا رَدِيفُهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا سُهَيْلُ ابْنَ الْبَيْضَاءِ " ، وَرَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا ، كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يُجِيبُهُ سُهَيْلٌ ، فَسَمِعَ النَّاسُ صَوْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُ يُرِيدُهُمْ ، فَحُبِسَ مَنْ كَانَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، وَلَحِقَهُ مَنْ كَانَ خَلْفَهُ ، حَتَّى إِذَا اجْتَمَعُوا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهُ مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، حَرَّمَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى النَّارِ ، وَأَوْجَبَ لَهُ الْجَنَّةَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suhail bin Bayda that once people were on a journey with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I was sitting behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called out loudly two or three times: "O Suhail bin Bayda!" Each time I replied, "Labbaik (I am here)." The people also heard this voice and thought that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted them to hear this as well. So those in front stopped at their places and those behind came closer. When all the people had gathered, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever bears witness that there is no god but Allah, Allah will make the fire of Hell forbidden for him and will make Paradise obligatory for him."
Hadith 15739
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ حَيْوَةُ : حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ ابْنِ الْبَيْضَاءِ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
