It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that in the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, there was no custom of delivering sermons. The first person to deliver sermons was Sayyiduna Tamim Dari. He sought permission from Sayyiduna Umar to stand among the people and deliver sermons, and Sayyiduna Umar granted him permission.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace be upon him), there was only one muezzin who would give the call to prayer (adhan) for all prayers and for Jumu’ah, etc., and he would also say the iqamah. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) would ascend the pulpit on the day of Jumu’ah, Sayyiduna Bilal would give the adhan, and when the Prophet (peace be upon him) would descend from the pulpit, he would say the iqamah. This continued during the time of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq and Sayyiduna Umar, until the era of Sayyiduna Uthman arrived.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'ib bin Yazid that on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, I was also taken for Hajj with the Prophet (ﷺ). At that time, I was seven years old.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and during the era of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, and the early period of Sayyiduna Umar, when a drunkard was brought, we would stand and beat him with our hands, shoes, and cloaks. Later, Sayyiduna Umar ordered that a drunkard be given forty lashes, and when people became rebellious and indulged in wickedness, he set the punishment at eighty lashes.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that a woman came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Aisha, do you know her?" She replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), no." He said, "She is the singer of such-and-such tribe. Do you want to listen to her singing?" She said, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her a plate, and she started singing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Satan is blowing into her nostrils."
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that he went out with other children towards Thaniyyatul Wada‘ to welcome the Prophet (ﷺ) on his return from the Battle of Tabuk. And in another narration, he said: I remember the Prophet (ﷺ) returning from the Battle of Tabuk.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that during the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ), there was only one muezzin appointed, who would give the adhan after the Prophet (ﷺ) sat on the pulpit, and after descending from the pulpit, he would also say the iqamah. This continued during the time of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq and Sayyiduna Umar as well.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'ib bin Yazid that once Shuraih Hadhrami was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet (ﷺ), so the Prophet (ﷺ) said: He is a man who does not use the Qur'an as a pillow.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No disease is contagious, the month of Safar is not unlucky, and there is no reality to a worm coming out of a dead person’s skull.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that during the blessed times of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the two Shaykhs, there was only one adhan, until the era of Sayyiduna Uthman came and the people increased, so he ordered the first adhan to be given at the place of Zawra.
Ismail bin Abdullah says that this hadith has reached me that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever participates in a gathering, and when he intends to stand up, he recites these words: Subhanak Allahumma wa bihamdika la ilaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk, then all the sins he committed in that gathering will be forgiven. The narrator says: I related this hadith to Yazid bin Khusaifah, and he said that this hadith was narrated to me in the same way by Sayyiduna Sa'ib bin Yazid from the Prophet (peace be upon him).
