Hadith 15715
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that in the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, there was no custom of delivering sermons. The first person to deliver sermons was Sayyiduna Tamim Dari. He sought permission from Sayyiduna Umar to stand among the people and deliver sermons, and Sayyiduna Umar granted him permission.
Hadith 15716
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
يَعْقُوبُ , حَدَّثَنِي
أَبِي ، عَنْ
ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنِ
السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ابْنِ أُخْتِ نَمِرٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمْ يَكُنْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مُؤَذِّنٌ وَاحِدٌ فِي الصَّلَوَاتِ كُلِّهَا فِي الْجُمُعَةِ وَغَيْرِهَا ، يُؤَذِّنُ وَيُقِيمُ , قَالَ : كَانَ بِلَالٌ يُؤَذِّنُ إِذَا جَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، وَيُقِيمُ إِذَا نَزَلَ ، وَلِأَبِي بَكْرٍ , وَعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا حَتَّى كَانَ عُثْمَانُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace be upon him), there was only one muezzin who would give the call to prayer (adhan) for all prayers and for Jumu’ah, etc., and he would also say the iqamah. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) would ascend the pulpit on the day of Jumu’ah, Sayyiduna Bilal would give the adhan, and when the Prophet (peace be upon him) would descend from the pulpit, he would say the iqamah. This continued during the time of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq and Sayyiduna Umar, until the era of Sayyiduna Uthman arrived.
Hadith 15717
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My Ummah will remain on the natural disposition as long as they offer the Maghrib prayer before the stars appear.
Hadith 15718
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'ib bin Yazid that on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, I was also taken for Hajj with the Prophet (ﷺ). At that time, I was seven years old.
Hadith 15719
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
مَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا
الْجُعَيْدُ ، عَنْ
يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ , عَنِ
السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ , قَالَ : " كُنَّا نُؤْتَى بِالشَّارِبِ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَفِي إِمْرَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَصَدْرًا مِنْ إِمْرَةِ عُمَرَ ، فَنَقُومُ إِلَيْهِ ، فَنَضْرِبُهُ بِأَيْدِينَا وَنِعَالِنَا وَأَرْدِيَتِنَا ، حَتَّى كَانَ صَدْرًا مِنْ إِمْرَةِ عُمَرَ فَجَلَدَ فِيهَا أَرْبَعِينَ ، حَتَّى إِذَا عَتَوْا فِيهَا وَفَسَقُوا ، جَلَدَ ثَمَانِينَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and during the era of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, and the early period of Sayyiduna Umar, when a drunkard was brought, we would stand and beat him with our hands, shoes, and cloaks. Later, Sayyiduna Umar ordered that a drunkard be given forty lashes, and when people became rebellious and indulged in wickedness, he set the punishment at eighty lashes.
Hadith 15720

مَكِّيٌّ ، حَدَّثَنَا
الْجُعَيْدُ ، عَنْ
يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ , عَنِ
السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً جَاءَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، أَتَعْرِفِينَ هَذِهِ ؟ " قَالَتْ : لَا , يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ , فَقَالَ : " هَذِهِ قَيْنَةُ بَنِي فُلَانٍ ، تُحِبِّينَ أَنْ تُغَنِّيَكِ ؟ " قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ , قَالَ : فَأَعْطَاهَا طَبَقًا ، فَغَنَّتْهَا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَدْ نَفَخَ الشَّيْطَانُ فِي مَنْخِرَيْهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that a woman came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Aisha, do you know her?" She replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), no." He said, "She is the singer of such-and-such tribe. Do you want to listen to her singing?" She said, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her a plate, and she started singing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Satan is blowing into her nostrils."
Hadith 15721
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ
الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنِ
السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ , قَالَ : " خَرَجْتُ مَعَ الصِّبْيَانِ إِلَى ثَنِيَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ نَتَلَقَّى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ " , وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً : أَذْكُرُ مَقْدِمَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ تَبُوكَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that he went out with other children towards Thaniyyatul Wada‘ to welcome the Prophet (ﷺ) on his return from the Battle of Tabuk. And in another narration, he said: I remember the Prophet (ﷺ) returning from the Battle of Tabuk.
Hadith 15722
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا
يَزِيدُ بْنُ خُصَيْفَةَ عَنِ
السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ , إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ظَاهَرَ بَيْنَ دِرْعَيْنِ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ , وَحَدَّثَنَا بِهِ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَلَمْ يَسْتَثْنِ فِيهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that the Prophet (ﷺ) was wearing two coats of armor on the occasion of the Battle of Uhud.
Hadith 15723
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that during the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ), there was only one muezzin appointed, who would give the adhan after the Prophet (ﷺ) sat on the pulpit, and after descending from the pulpit, he would also say the iqamah. This continued during the time of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq and Sayyiduna Umar as well.
Hadith 15724
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'ib bin Yazid that once Shuraih Hadhrami was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet (ﷺ), so the Prophet (ﷺ) said: He is a man who does not use the Qur'an as a pillow.

Hadith 15727
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No disease is contagious, the month of Safar is not unlucky, and there is no reality to a worm coming out of a dead person’s skull.
Hadith 15728
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا
وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا
ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنِ
الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ
السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ الْأَذَانُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُمَا أذانان ، حَتَّى كَانَ زَمَنُ عُثْمَانَ ، فَكَثُرَ النَّاسُ ، فَأَمَرَ بِالْأَذَانِ الْأَوَّلِ بِالزَّوْرَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that during the blessed times of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the two Shaykhs, there was only one adhan, until the era of Sayyiduna Uthman came and the people increased, so he ordered the first adhan to be given at the place of Zawra.
Hadith 15729
Ismail bin Abdullah says that this hadith has reached me that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whoever participates in a gathering, and when he intends to stand up, he recites these words: Subhanak Allahumma wa bihamdika la ilaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk, then all the sins he committed in that gathering will be forgiven. The narrator says: I related this hadith to Yazid bin Khusaifah, and he said that this hadith was narrated to me in the same way by Sayyiduna Sa'ib bin Yazid from the Prophet (peace be upon him).
