حَدِيثُ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of Suwayd ibn Muqarrin (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 15703
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا شُعْبَةَ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا لَطَمَ جَارِيَةً لِآلِ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ سُوَيْدٌ : أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ الصُّورَةَ مُحَرَّمَةٌ ، لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي سَابِعَ سَبْعَةٍ مَعَ إِخْوَتِي ، وَمَا لَنَا إِلَّا خَادِمٌ وَاحِدٌ ، فَلَطَمَهُ أَحَدُنَا ، فَأَمَرَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْ نُعْتِقَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Muqarrin that a man slapped a slave girl belonging to the family of Suwaid. Sayyiduna Suwaid said to him, "Do you not know that it is forbidden to strike the face? We were seven brothers and had only one servant. One of us once slapped her, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to set her free."
Hadith 15704
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ هلالا رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي مَازِنٍ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ , قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِنَبِيذٍ فِي جَرٍّ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْهُ ، " فَنَهَانِي عَنْهُ ، فَأَخَذْتُ الْجَرَّةَ فَكَسَرْتُهَا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Muqarrin (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I brought nabidh in a jug to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and asked him for a ruling regarding it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade me from it, so I took the jug and broke it.
Hadith 15705
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ , قَالَ : لَطَمْتُ مَوْلًى لَنَا ، ثُمَّ جِئْتُ وَأَبِي فِي الظُّهْرِ ، فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ أَخَذَ بِيَدِي ، فَقَالَ : امتثل مِنْهُ , فَعَفَا ، ثُمَّ أَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُ , قَالَ : كُنَّا وَلَدَ مُقَرِّنٍ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبْعَةً لَيْسَ لَنَا إِلَّا خَادِمٌ وَاحِدَةٌ ، فَلَطَمَهَا أَحَدُنَا ، فَبَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَعْتِقُوهَا " , فَقَالُوا : لَيْسَ لَنَا خَادِمٌ غَيْرُهَا ، قَالَ : " ، فَإِذَا اسْتَغْنَوْا فَلْيُخَلُّوا سَبِيلَهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Muqarrin that a man slapped a slave girl belonging to the family of Suwaid. Sayyiduna Suwaid said to him, "Do you not know that it is forbidden to strike the face? We were seven brothers and had only one servant among us. One of us once slapped her, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to set her free." The brothers said, "We have no other servant besides her." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then continue to take service from her, and when you become independent of her, set her free."
