Hadith of 'Amr ibn Al-Jamuh (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 15549
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَارِجَةَ , قَالَ : أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنَ الْهَيْثَمِ , حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَنْصُورٍ مَوْلَى الْأَنْصَارِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْجَمُوحِ , أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَا يَحِقُّ الْعَبْدُ حَقَّ صَرِيحِ الْإِيمَانِ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى وَيُبْغِضَ لِلَّهِ ، فَإِذَا أَحَبَّ لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى ، وَأَبْغَضَ لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى , فَقَدْ اسْتَحَقَّ الْوَلَاءَ مِنَ اللَّهِ ، وَإِنَّ أَوْلِيَائِي مِنْ عِبَادِي ، وَأَحِبَّائِي مِنْ خَلْقِي الَّذِينَ يُذْكَرُونَ بِذِكْرِي ، وَأُذْكَرُ بِذِكْرِهِمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Jamuh that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: At that time, no person can be a true believer until he loves and hates solely for the sake of Allah. When a person begins to love and hate solely for the pleasure of Allah, he becomes deserving of Allah’s friendship. And Allah Almighty says: Among My servants, My friends and among My creation, My beloved ones are those who remember Me, and I remember them.
