Hadith of Mu'awiyah ibn Jahimah As-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 15538
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ جَاهِمَةَ , أنَّ جاهمة جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرَدْتُ الْغَزْوَ ، وَجِئْتُكَ أَسْتَشِيرُكَ , فَقَالَ : " هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ أُمٍّ ؟ " قَالَ : نَعَمْ , فَقَالَ : " الْزَمْهَا ، فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ عِنْدَ رِجْلِهَا " ثُمَّ الثَّانِيَةَ ، ثُمَّ الثَّالِثَةَ فِي مَقَاعِدَ شَتَّى كَمِثْلِ هَذَا الْقَوْلِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Jahmah that once Jahmah came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I want to participate in jihad and have come to you for advice." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Is your mother alive?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then keep her service obligatory upon yourself, for Paradise is beneath her feet." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this a second time, a third time, and even several times.
