It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Abdullah that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, I was presented before the Prophet (peace be upon him). Those who brought me were Sayyiduna Uthman and Zuhair. They began to praise me. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Do not tell me about their attachments; they have been my companions in the time of ignorance. I said: O Messenger of Allah! And you were the best companion. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Sa’ib, see that the morals you used to observe in the time of ignorance, maintain them also in the state of Islam: hospitality, honoring the orphan, and treating the neighbor well.
Hadith 15501
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The reward for offering prayer while sitting is half of the reward for offering it while standing.

The master of Mujahid says that in the time of ignorance, I also participated in the construction of the Kaaba. I had a stone which I had carved with my own hands, and I used to worship it instead of Allah. I would bring the best kind of milk, which in my eyes was excellent, and I would pour it over the idol. A dog would come, lick it, and after a while, urinate and expel it from its body. In short, while we were constructing the Kaaba and reached the level of the Black Stone, until then no one had even seen the Black Stone. Later, it was found that it was lying among our stones. It resembled a man's head, and even a human face could be seen in it. At that moment, a clan of the Quraysh said that they would place the Black Stone in its place; another said, "We will place it." Some people suggested appointing an arbitrator among themselves. They said, "The first man who comes to this place will be our arbitrator." After a while, the first to come there was the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The people said, "The trustworthy one has come to you." Then they mentioned this matter to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed the Black Stone in a large cloth and called the clans of the Quraysh. Those people each held a corner of it, and when they reached the original place, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted it and installed it with his blessed hand.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'ib that before Islam, he was a business partner of the Prophet (peace be upon him). On the day of the conquest of Makkah, he presented himself before the Prophet (peace be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Welcome to my brother and business partner, who neither competed nor argued. Sa'ib, you used to do some good deeds in the time of ignorance, but at that time they were not accepted; however, now they will be accepted. Sayyiduna Sa'ib used to give loans to those in need and maintain ties of kinship.
