Hadith of Quhayd ibn Mutarrif al-'Aqari (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 15486
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَخِي الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ قُهَيْدِ بْنِ مُطَرِّفٍ الْغِفَارِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , سَأَلَهُ سَائِلٌ إِنْ عَدَا عَلَيَّ عَادٍ ؟ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَنْهَاهُ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ ، قَالَ : فَإِنْ أَبَى , فَأَمَرَهُ بِقِتَالِهِ ، قَالَ : فَكَيْفَ بِنَا ؟ قَالَ : " إِنْ قَتَلَكَ فَأَنْتَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، وَإِنْ قَتَلْتَهُ فَهُوَ فِي النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qubaid bin Mutarrif Ghafari that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "If someone wants to oppress or wrong me, what should I do?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Advise him three times, forbid him from it." The questioner asked: "If he still does not desist?" He replied: "Then fight him." The questioner asked: "What will be the ruling for us in that case?" He said: "If he kills you, you will go to Paradise; if you kill him, he will go to Hell."
Hadith 15487
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُطَّلِبِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ قُهَيْدٍ الْغِفَارِيِّ , قَالَ : سَأَلَ سَائِلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ : إِنْ عَدَا عَلَيَّ عَادٍ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ذَكِّرْهُ , وَأَمَرَهُ بِتَذْكِيرِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، فَإِنْ أَبَى فَقَاتِلْهُ ، فَإِنْ قَتَلَكَ فَإِنَّكَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، وَإِنْ قَتَلْتَهُ فَإِنَّهُ فِي النَّارِ " .
