حَدِیث قَیسِ بنِ سَعدِ بنِ عبَادَةَ عَنِ النَّبِیِّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَیهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadith of Qays ibn Sa'd ibn Ubadah from the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 15476
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ , يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَسْعَدَ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : زَارَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَنْزِلِنَا ، فَقَالَ : " السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ " , قَالَ : فَرَدَّ سَعْدٌ رَدًّا خَفِيًّا , قال قيس : فقلتُ ألا تأذنُ لرسول الله صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ ! قال : ذَرْه يُكثِْرُ علينا من السلام ، ثم قال رسولُ الله صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " السَّلام عليكم ورحمةُ الله " , فردَّ سعد ردًّا خفيًا , فَرَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاتَّبَعَهُ سَعْدٌ , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , قَدْ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ تَسْلِيمَكَ ، وَأَرُدُّ عَلَيْكَ رَدًّا خَفِيًّا ، لِتُكْثِرَ عَلَيْنَا مِنَ السَّلَامِ ، قَالَ : فَانْصَرَفَ مَعَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَمَرَ لَهُ سَعْدٌ بِغُسْلٍ ، فَوُضِعَ ، فَاغْتَسَلَ ثُمَّ نَاوَلَهُ , أَوْ قَالَ : نَاوَلُوهُ مِلْحَفَةً مَصْبُوغَةً بِزَعْفَرَانٍ وَوَرْسٍ ، فَاشْتَمَلَ بِهَا , ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَيْهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ صَلَوَاتِكَ وَرَحْمَتَكَ عَلَى آلِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ " , قَالَ : ثُمَّ أَصَابَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ ، فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ الِانْصِرَافَ ، قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِ سَعْدٌ حِمَارًا قَدْ وَطَّأَ عَلَيْهِ بِقَطِيفَةٍ ، فَرَكِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : سَعْدٌ يَا قَيْسُ اصْحَبْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ قَيْسٌ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " ارْكَبْ " , فَأَبَيْتُ , ثُمَّ قَالَ : " إِمَّا أَنْ تَرْكَبَ ، وَإِمَّا أَنْ تَنْصَرِفَ " , قَالَ : فَانْصَرَفْتُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qais bin Sa'd that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to our house and greeted us from outside. Sayyiduna Sa'd, my father, replied softly. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned to leave, so Sayyiduna Sa'd ran after the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I heard your greeting and replied, but in a low voice so that you would pray for peace for us as much as possible." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned with Sayyiduna Sa'd. Sayyiduna Sa'd ordered water to be prepared for bathing. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took a bath and then said, "Bring a blanket." This blanket was dyed with saffron and wars. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wrapped himself in it and raised his hands and prayed, "O Allah, send down Your mercy and blessings upon the family of Sa'd bin Ubadah." After that, he ate some food. When he intended to leave, Sayyiduna Sa'd brought a donkey on which he had placed a cloth. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mounted it, and my father said to me, "Qais, go with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked me to ride with him, but out of respect, I refused. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Either ride or go back." So I went back.
Hadith 15477
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُخَيْمِرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ , قَالَ : أَمَرَنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْ نَصُومَ عَاشُورَاءَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ صِيَامُ رَمَضَانَ ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ رَمَضَانَ ، لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا ، وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا ، وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qais bin Sa'd that before the command of fasting in the month of Ramadan was revealed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to fast on the day of Ashura. When the command to fast in the month of Ramadan was revealed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) neither ordered us to fast on Ashura nor forbade it, but we ourselves continued to fast.
Hadith 15478
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مُلَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ ، أَنَّ حَبِيبَ بْنَ مَسْلَمَةَ أَتَى قَيْسَ بْنَ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ الْأُولَى ، وَهُوَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ , فَأَخَّرَ عَنِ السَّرْجِ , وَقَالَ : ارْكَبْ ، فَأَبَى, وَقَالَ لَهُ قَيْسُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ : إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " صَاحِبُ الدَّابَّةِ أَوْلَى بِصَدْرِهَا " , فَقَالَ لَهُ حَبِيبٌ : إِنِّي لَسْتُ أَجْهَلُ مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَكِنِّي أَخْشَى عَلَيْكَ .
Habib bin Salamah came to Sayyiduna Qais bin Sa'd during the time of the first tribulation, riding on his horse. He moved back from the saddle and said, "Mount on it." He (Qais) replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'The owner of the mount has more right to sit in front.'" Habib said, "I am not unaware of this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but I was concerned for your safety."
Hadith 15479
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ , قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ كَانَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِلَّا وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ , إِلَّا شَيْئًا وَاحِدًا ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ يُقَلَّسُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ " , قَالَ جَابِرٌ : هُوَ اللَّعِبُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qais bin Sa'd that whatever existed during the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ), I still see it now except for one thing, and that is that on the day of Eid al-Fitr, entertainment was arranged for the Prophet (ﷺ).
Hadith 15480
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مَنْصُورَ بْنَ زَاذَانَ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ أَبِي شَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ دَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْدُمُهُ ، فَأَتَى عَلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ صَلَّيْتُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، قَالَ : فَضَرَبَنِي بِرِجْلِهِ وَقَالَ : " أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى بَابٍ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ ؟ " , قُلْتُ بَلَى ، قَالَ : " لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qais bin Sa'd that once his father sent him to serve the Prophet (peace be upon him). When the Prophet (peace be upon him) arrived, I had already performed two rak'ahs. The Prophet (peace be upon him) tapped my foot and said, "Shall I not tell you about one of the gates of Paradise?" I replied, "Why not!" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "That gate is: La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah."
Hadith 15481
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَحْرٍ ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ سَوَادَةَ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ رَبِّي تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى ، حَرَّمَ عَلَيَّ الْخَمْرَ وَالْكُوبَةَ وَالْقِنِّينَ ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْغُبَيْرَاءَ ، فَإِنَّهَا ثُلُثُ خَمْرِ الْعَالَمِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qais bin Sa'd that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: My Lord has forbidden for me wine, chess, and musical instruments. Avoid date wine, for it is one third of all the wine in the world.
Hadith 15482
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِيهِ ابْنُ هُبَيْرَةَ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ شَيْخًا مِنْ حِمْيَرَ , يُحَدِّثُ أَبَا تَمِيمٍ الْجَيْشَانِيَّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ قَيْسَ بْنَ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ وَهُوَ عَلَى مِصْرٍ , يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ كِذْبَةً مُتَعَمِّدًا ، فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَضْجَعًا مِنَ النَّارِ ، أَوْ بَيْتًا فِي جَهَنَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qais that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever deliberately attributes a false statement to me, let him make his abode in Hell.
Hadith 15483-2
(حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ أَتَى عَطْشَانًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، أَلَا فَكُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ خَمْرٌ ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْغُبَيْرَاءَ " , قَالَ هَذَا الشَّيْخُ : ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُ مِثْلَهُ , فَلَمْ يَخْتَلِفَا إِلَّا فِي بَيْتٍ أَوْ مَضْجَعٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qais that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever drinks alcohol in this world will come on the Day of Resurrection thirsty. Beware, every intoxicating thing is alcohol, and protect yourselves from date wine.
