Sayyiduna Majma’ bin Jariyah was one of those who had memorized the Qur’an. He says: We participated in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. On the way back, we saw that people were urging their camels forward quickly. People asked each other: What is the matter? They replied that a special revelation had come down to the Prophet (ﷺ). We also set out with the anxious people until we found the Prophet (ﷺ) at a place called Kara’ al-Ghamim, mounted on his ride. People had gathered around the Prophet (ﷺ), and he was reciting Surah al-Fath to them. On this occasion, one of the companions said: O Messenger of Allah! Is this a victory? The Prophet (ﷺ) replied: Yes, by Him in Whose hand is my soul, this is a victory. After that, the entire region of Khaybar was distributed among the people of Hudaybiyyah, and no one else was included in this distribution. The Prophet (ﷺ) divided it into eighteen shares, while the army consisted of fifteen hundred men, among whom three were horsemen. The Prophet (ﷺ) gave two shares to each horseman and one share to each foot soldier.
