Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Hatib that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The distinction between what is lawful and unlawful is made by beating the duff and publicizing the marriage.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Hatib that once a pot fell on my hand. My mother took me to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him). At that time, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was at a particular place. The Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed for me, saying: "O Lord of the people, remove this pain," and perhaps he also said, "Grant him healing, for You are the only healer." After that, the Prophet (peace be upon him) applied his saliva to me.

Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Hatib’s mother, Umm Jameel, says: Once I was bringing you from the land of Abyssinia, and when I was one or two nights’ distance from Madinah Munawwarah, I began to cook food for you. Meanwhile, the firewood ran out, so I went out in search of wood. You overturned the pot onto your hand, and it fell over onto your arm. I took you to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you, this is Muhammad bin Hatib. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his blessed saliva in your mouth, passed his hand over your head, and prayed for blessing for you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept putting his blessed saliva on your hand and kept saying: O Lord of the people, remove this pain and grant healing, for You are the only Healer, there is no healing except Your healing, grant such a healing that leaves no trace of illness. I had not even gotten up from the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) presence when your hand was healed.

Muhammad bin Hatib says that once I walked on my feet to a pot that was boiling. I put my hand in it, and it became swollen or burned. My mother took me to a man who was at the place of Batha. He recited something and blew on my hand. During the caliphate of Sayyiduna Uthman, I asked my mother who that man was. She told me that he was the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
