Hadith 15449
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Amrah Ansari that once we were with the Prophet (peace be upon him) in a battle, and during that time, people were afflicted with severe hunger. They sought permission from the Prophet (peace be upon him) to slaughter a riding animal and said, "Allah will enable us to reach our destination through this." Sayyiduna Umar sensed that perhaps the Prophet (peace be upon him) would permit them to slaughter a riding animal, so he said, "O Messenger of Allah! Tomorrow we will face the enemy, and along with being hungry, we will also be on foot, so what will become of us? O Messenger of Allah! If you deem it appropriate, ask them to bring whatever leftover provisions they have. Gather it together and pray for blessing in it. By the blessing of your prayer, Allah will make it sufficient for us." So the Prophet (peace be upon him) did so and asked the people to bring their leftover provisions. People began to bring a handful of wheat or a little more. The best among them was the one who brought a sa’ (a measure) of food. The Prophet (peace be upon him) gathered all these things and prayed to Allah for blessing for as long as Allah willed. Then he called the entire army along with their vessels and ordered them to take handfuls and fill their vessels. Thus, there was not a single vessel in the entire army that was not filled by the people, yet the food remained as it was. The Prophet (peace be upon him) began to smile until his blessed teeth became visible and said, "I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. Whoever meets Allah on the Day of Resurrection with these two testimonies as a believer will be protected from the fire of Hell."
