حَدِیث اِیَاسِ بنِ عَبد مِن اَصحَابِ النَّبِیِّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَیهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadith of Iyas ibn Abd from the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 15444
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ إِيَاسَ بْنَ عَبْدٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَال : " لَا تَبِيعُوا فَضْلَ الْمَاءِ ، فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الْمَاءِ " , قَالَ : وَالنَّاسُ يَبِيعُونَ مَاءَ الْفُرَاتِ فَنَهَاهُمْ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Iyas bin Abd that do not sell water in excess of need, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling water. In fact, in those times people had started selling the water of the Euphrates River, so he forbade it.
