حَدِیث سفیَانَ بنِ عَبدِ اللَّهِ الثَّقَفِیِّ رَضِیَ اللَّه تَعَالَى عَنه
Hadith of Sufyan ibn Abdullah al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 15416
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قُلْ لِي فِي الْإِسْلَامِ قَوْلًا لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ أَحَدًا غَيْرَكَ ، قَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ : بَعْدَكَ ، قَالَ : " قُلْ آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ ثُمَّ اسْتَقِمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Abdullah that I once submitted in the court of the Messenger: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me something about Islam such that after you, I would not need to ask anyone anything. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: First, declare with your tongue that I have believed in Allah, then remain steadfast upon it always.
Hadith 15417
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبِرْنِي أَمْرًا فِي الْإِسْلَامِ لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ أَحَدًا بَعْدَكَ , قَالَ : " قُلْ آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ ثُمَّ اسْتَقِمْ " , قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَأَيَّ شَيْءٍ أَتَّقِي ؟ قَالَ : فَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى لِسَانِهِ " .

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أخبرنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَاعِزٍ الْعَامِرِيِّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، حَدِّثْنِي بِأَمْرٍ أَعْتَصِمُ بِهِ ، قَالَ : " قُلْ رَبِّيَ اللَّهُ , ثُمَّ اسْتَقِمْ " قَالَ : قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا أَكْبَرُ مَا تَخَافُ عَلَيَّ ؟ قَالَ : فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلِسَانِ نَفْسِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " هَذَا " , قَالَ يَزِيدُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : بِطَرْفِ لِسَانِ نَفْسِه .
