Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I went out with my father. We reached the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I saw the effect of henna on the blessed head of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The giving hand is the upper one. Give to your parents, siblings, and close relatives." A man said, "O Messenger of Allah! These are the Banu Yarbu‘ who are the killers of such-and-such man?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Remember! No soul commits a crime against another." In another narration, it is mentioned that I entered the mosque and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon and saying that the giving hand is the upper one.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I presented myself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and at that time some people from the tribe of Rabi’ah had come with a case of murder. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The giving hand is upper. Give to your parents, siblings, and close relatives." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked and said: "Abu Rimthah, who is this with you?" I replied, "He is my son." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not responsible for your crime, nor are you responsible for his crime." Then he mentioned the incident of the Seal of Prophethood.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I went with my father to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Is this your son?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Do you love him?" He said, "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not responsible for any of your crimes, and you are not responsible for any of his crimes."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and at that time, some people from the tribe of Rabi‘ah had come with a case of murder. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The giving hand is the upper hand. Give to your parents, siblings, and close relatives." Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) looked and said: "Abu Rimthah, who is this with you?" I replied, "He is my son." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not responsible for your crime, nor are you responsible for his crime." Then I noticed that on the thin bone of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace and blessings be upon him) shoulder, there was a raised piece of flesh the size of a camel’s dropping or a pigeon’s egg. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Should I not treat it for you, as our family are physicians?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who put it there will be the one to cure it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I went with my father to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When I saw him, my father asked, "Do you know who this is?" I said, "No." My father told me, "This is the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." Upon hearing this, my hair stood on end. I used to think of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as something not resembling humans, but he was a perfect human being. He had long hair, and there was a trace of henna on his blessed head. He was wearing two green garments. My father greeted him with salam and sat down to talk. After a little while, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked my father, "Is this your son?" He said, "Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Really?" He said, "I bear witness to it." At this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled, because my appearance resembled my father, and then my father also swore an oath to it. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Remember, he is not responsible for any of your sins, and you are not responsible for any of his sins." And he recited this verse: "No person will bear the burden of another." Then my father saw a raised part between the two shoulders of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I am considered a great physician among the people. Should I treat you and (remove) it?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Its healer is the One who created it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ramtha (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, in my childhood, I presented myself along with my father in the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). My father said, "O Messenger of Allah! I am considered a great physician among the people. May I see that raised piece of flesh on your back?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What will you do?" He replied, "I will cut it off." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You are not a physician, you are a companion. Its healer is the One who created it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I, along with my son, presented myself in the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I showed him to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "This is the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." Due to awe, he became moist (with sweat). I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! I am considered a great physician among the people and belong to a family of physicians. Please show me your back. If this is a boil, I will press it, otherwise I will inform you, for at this time there is no one who knows wounds better than me." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Its healer is the One who made it." He had long hair and there was a trace of henna on his blessed head. He was wearing two green garments. After a little while, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Is this your son?" I said, "Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Really?" He said, "I bear witness to it." Upon this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Remember, he is not responsible for any of your crimes, and you are not responsible for any of his crimes."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I performed Hajj and saw a man sitting in the shade of the Ka'bah. When I looked at him, my father asked, "Do you know who this is? This is the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." When we approached him, he had long hair and there was a trace of henna on his blessed head. He was wearing two green garments.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I, along with my son, presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). After a short while, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Is this your son?" I said, "I bear witness to that." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Remember! He is not responsible for any of your crimes, and you are not responsible for any of his crimes." And I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had red hair.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I went with my father to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). On the way, we met the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). My father told me, "This is the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." I used to think of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as something not resembling human beings, but he was a perfect human. He had long hair, and there was a trace of henna on his blessed head. He was wearing two green garments, and his shins are still before my eyes. After a little while, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked my father, "Who is this with you?" He said, "By Allah, this is my son." At this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled because my father had sworn an oath. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have spoken the truth. Remember, he is not responsible for any of your crimes, and you are not responsible for any of his crimes." And he recited this verse: "No bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, when I was a boy, I went with my father to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). We reached a man at noon who was sitting in the shade of his house. He was wearing two green sheets, his hair was long, and there was a trace of henna on his head. When I looked at him, my father asked, "Do you know who this is?" I said, "No." My father told me, "This is the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)." We talked for quite a while. Then my father said, "I belong to a family of physicians. Please show me this part of your shoulder. If it is an abscess, I will press it, otherwise I will tell you." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Its healer is the One who made it." After a little while, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at me and asked my father, "Is this your son?" He said, "Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Really?" He said, "I bear witness to it." At this, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled, because my appearance resembled my father. Then my father swore an oath to this effect. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Remember! He is not responsible for any of your sins, and you are not responsible for any of his sins."

Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Remember! He is not responsible for any of your sins, and you are not responsible for any of his sins." And he recited this verse: "No person will bear the burden of another." Then my father saw a raised area between the two shoulders of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I am considered a great physician among the people. Should I treat you and (remove) it?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Its healer is the One who created it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was wearing two green garments.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rimthah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I came to Madinah Munawwarah. I had not seen the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) before. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out wearing two green sheets. I said to my son, "This is the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." My son began to tremble out of awe. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I am considered a great physician among the people, and I belong to a family of physicians. Please show me your back. If this is an abscess, I will press it, otherwise I will inform you, for at this time there is no one who knows more about wounds than I do." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Its healer is the One who made it." After a little while, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Is this your son?" I said, "Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Really?" He said, "I bear witness to it." Upon this, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Remember, he is not responsible for any of your crimes, and you are not responsible for any of his crimes."
