Once, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him): Do you remember that once I, you, and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He replied: Yes! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) picked us up and left you.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a journey, he would meet the children of his household. Once, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from a journey, I was the first to be presented before him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) picked me up, then a son of Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), either Sayyiduna Hasan or Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both), was brought, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated him behind himself. In this way, the three of us rode on one mount and entered Madinah Munawwarah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) seated me behind him on his mount, and he whispered something to me which I will never tell anyone. And it was the habit of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that when relieving himself, he would go behind a high building or a cluster of trees for cover. One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered the garden of an Ansari, when suddenly a camel came and began to roll at his feet, and at that time there were tears in its eyes. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stroked its back and the back of its head, and it became calm. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dispatched an army and appointed Sayyiduna Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) as its commander. In case of his martyrdom, Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) was to be the commander, and in case of his martyrdom, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) was appointed as the commander. They confronted the enemy. Sayyiduna Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag in his hand and fought so bravely that he was martyred. Then Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag in his hand and began to fight, but he too was martyred. Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag in his hand and began to fight, but he too was martyred. Then Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag in his hand, and Allah granted victory to the Muslims at his hand. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) received news of this incident, he came to the people, praised and glorified Allah, and said: "Your brothers confronted the enemy. Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag and began to fight and was martyred. After him, Ja'far bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag and began to fight and he too was martyred. Then Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag and began to fight, but he too was martyred. After that, one of Allah's swords, Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him), took the flag and began to fight, so Allah granted him victory." Then, three days later, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to the family of Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "Do not weep for my brother after today. Bring my two nephews to me." We were brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and at that time we were like chicks. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered a barber to be called, who came and shaved our heads. Then he said: "Of these, Muhammad resembles our uncle Abu Talib, and Abdullah resembles me in appearance and character." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took my hand, raised it, and prayed: «اَللّٰهُمَّ اخْلُفْ جَعْفَرًا فِي أَهْلِهِ وَبَارِكْ لِعَبْدِ اللّٰهِ فِي صَفْقَةِ يَمِينِهِ» "O Allah! Grant Ja'far's family a good substitute, and bless Abdullah's right hand." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made this supplication three times. Meanwhile, our mother also arrived and began to express her grief and our orphanhood. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do you fear poverty for them? I am their guardian in this world and the Hereafter."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I wish you had seen me and the two sons of Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), Qutham and Ubaidullah, when we were children playing together, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by us on his mount. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Lift this child up to me," and I was lifted and seated in front of him. Then he asked for Qutham to be brought, and seated him behind himself, while Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) loved Ubaidullah more than Qutham. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not feel any hesitation in this matter with his uncle, that he took Qutham and left Ubaidullah. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over my head three times and said: "O Allah! Grant Ja'far a substitute for his children." The narrator says: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) what happened to Qutham? He replied that he was martyred. I said: Allah and His Messenger know best about goodness. He said: That is exactly so.
Hadith 1761
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a person has doubt in his prayer, he should perform two prostrations of forgetfulness while sitting."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) that he married his daughter to Hajjaj bin Yusuf and said to her: When he comes to you, say this: «لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» "There is no deity except Allah, He is Forbearing and Generous, Allah, the Lord of the Great Throne, is free from all defects, all praise is for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds." And he said that when any distress befell the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he would also say these words. Hammad says: I think the narrator also said that Hajjaj could not reach her.
