Hazrat ‘Abbad bin ‘Abdullah says that Sayyiduna Harith bin Khuzmah (may Allah be pleased with him) brought two verses of Surah Bara’ah: from «﴿لَقَدْجَاءَكُمْرَسُولٌمِّنْأَنفُسِكُمْ . . . . .﴾» to the end, to Sayyiduna ‘Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Who is a witness with you to this? He replied: By Allah! I do not know about that, but I testify that I heard these verses from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and memorized them. Sayyiduna ‘Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I also testify that I too heard them from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he said: If these were three verses, I would have counted them as a separate surah. Now, look at any surah of the Noble Qur’an and place these two verses in it. So I placed them at the end of Surah Bara’ah.
