حَدِیث زَیدِ بنِ خَارِجَةَ رَضِیَ اللَّه عَنه
Hadith of Zayd ibn Kharijah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 1714
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنْ عَبْدَ الْحَمِيدِ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ دَعَا مُوسَى بْنَ طَلْحَةَ حِينَ عَرَّسَ عَلَى ابْنِهِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَبَا عِيسَى ، كَيْفَ بَلَغَكَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ مُوسَى : سَأَلْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ خَارِجَةَ ، عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ زَيْدٌ : إِنِّي سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِنَفْسِي ، فَقُلْتُ : كَيْفَ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ : " صَلُّوا وَاجْتَهِدُوا ، ثُمَّ قُولُوا اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ " .
Khalid bin Salamah says that once Abdul Hameed bin Abdur Rahman invited Musa bin Talhah to the wedding feast (walimah) of his son and asked him, "O Abu Isa! With what words has the narration regarding sending blessings upon the Prophet (ﷺ) reached you?" He said, "Once I asked Sayyiduna Zaid bin Kharijah (may Allah be pleased with him) about sending blessings upon the Prophet (ﷺ). He told me that he himself had asked the Prophet (ﷺ) this question, and the Prophet (ﷺ) replied: 'After performing the prayer with due care, say: «اَللّٰهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ» "O Allah! Send blessings upon Muhammad (ﷺ) and the family of Muhammad (ﷺ) as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim. Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious."
