Once, Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting in the central mosque of Kufa, with the people of Kufa seated to his right and left. In the meantime, Sayyiduna Sa’id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived. Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) welcomed him and seated him at the foot of his bed. After a while, a Kufan came and stood in front of Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) and began to curse someone. He asked: “Mughirah! Whom is he reviling?” He replied: “Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).” He called Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) by name three times and said: “In your presence, the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are being reviled, and you neither stop the people nor change your gathering?” I bear witness that my ears heard this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and my heart preserved it, and I do not narrate any falsehood from him, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Abu Bakr will be in Paradise, Umar, Ali, Uthman, Talhah, Zubair, Abdur Rahman bin Awf, and Sa’d bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with them all), and a ninth Muslim will also be in Paradise.’ If I wished to name him, I could have done so.” The people of the mosque loudly adjured him, saying: “O Companion of the Messenger! Who is the ninth man?” He said: “You are making me swear by Allah, Allah’s name is very great. That ninth man is myself, and the tenth is the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself.” After that, he moved to the right and said: “By Allah! That one battle in which a person participated with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his face became dusty in it, is better than all your deeds, even if you were granted the lifespan of Nuh.”
Hadith 1630
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed Mount Hira and said: "O Hira! Remain still, for none is upon you except a Prophet, a Siddiq, or a Martyr." At that time, along with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), there were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq, Sayyiduna Umar, Sayyiduna Uthman, Sayyiduna Ali, Sayyiduna Talha, Sayyiduna Zubair, Sayyiduna Saad, Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf, and Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them all) on Mount Hira.

Talha bin Abdullah bin Awf says that a woman named Arwa bint Uwais came to me with a group of Quraysh, among whom was Abdur Rahman bin Amr bin Suhail, and she said that Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) has included a part of my land into his own land even though it does not belong to him. I want you to go to him and talk to him about this matter. We mounted our rides and set out towards him; at that time he was in his lands in the valley of Aqiq. When he saw us, he said: I understand why you have come. I will tell you a hadith which I myself heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever takes possession of a piece of land unlawfully, a collar reaching to the seven earths will be placed around his neck on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever is killed while protecting his wealth is a martyr."
Hadith 1643
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever seizes even a handspan of land unjustly, on the Day of Resurrection it will be made into a collar from the seven earths and placed around his neck."

Abdullah bin Zalim says that when Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) departed from Kufa, he appointed Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) as the governor there. (Some people asked him for permission to deliver a speech.) He granted them permission, and those people stood up and began to speak disrespectfully about Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). I was sitting beside Sayyiduna Sa’id bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him). He became angry, stood up, and said: “In your presence, a person of Paradise is being spoken ill of, and you are not stopping them! I bear witness that nine men will be in Paradise, and if I testify about the tenth, I will not be sinful.” I asked him for details, so he said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Hira! Remain firm, for none is upon you except a Prophet, a Siddiq, or a martyr.” I asked for their names, so he said: The Prophet himself (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, Sayyiduna Umar, Sayyiduna Ali, Sayyiduna Uthman, Sayyiduna Talhah, Sayyiduna Zubair, Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf, and Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with them all). Then he fell silent. I asked about the tenth person, so he said: “That is me.”
Hadith 1645
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that I bear witness that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is among the people of Paradise. The narrator asked, "How is that?" He replied, "He is included among nine individuals, and I can also name the tenth person." Once, the mountain of Hira began to tremble, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Hira! Be still, for there is none upon you except a Prophet, a Siddiq, and a martyr." They were: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, Sayyiduna Umar, Sayyiduna Ali, Sayyiduna Uthman, Sayyiduna Talha, Sayyiduna Zubair, Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf, Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with them all), and myself.
Hadith 1646
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever seizes even a handspan of land unjustly, on the Day of Resurrection it will be made into a collar from the seven earths and placed around his neck."
Hadith 1647
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned those tribulations which will spread like pieces of a dark night, and people will depart from this world very rapidly during them. Someone asked, "Will all of them be destroyed or only some?" He replied: "Their matter will be according to killing."
Hadith 1648
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that once—when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in Makkah and with him was Sayyiduna Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him)—Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail passed by both of them. They invited Zaid to eat, as they were sitting at the dining spread at that time. Zaid said, "Nephew! I do not eat the meat of animals that are slaughtered in front of idols." (This incident is from before Prophethood.) After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was never seen eating such food. Sayyiduna Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) says: One day I submitted in the court of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! You yourself have seen my father and you also know about him. If he had found your time of Prophethood, he would surely have believed in you and followed you. Please seek forgiveness for him." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! I will seek forgiveness for him, because on the Day of Resurrection he will be raised alone equal to a whole nation."
Hadith 1649
Abu Salamah says that once Marwan said, "Go and reconcile between the two of them, that is, Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) and the narrator." We reached Sayyiduna Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said, "Do you think that I have usurped any right of that woman? I am an eyewitness to this matter. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'Whoever unjustly seizes even a handspan of land, a collar of that land, taken from all seven earths, will be placed around his neck. And whoever establishes an alliance with a people without their permission, upon him is the curse of Allah. And whoever, by swearing an oath, unlawfully acquires the wealth of a Muslim, Allah will never bless it for him.'"
Hadith 1650
Amr bin Harith says that once, on the occasion of my visit to Madinah Munawwarah, I had my brother divide the share for me. Upon this, Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no blessing in the price of land or a house unless it is invested back into land or a house."
Hadith 1651
Abdullah bin Abdur Rahman says that I have come to know this saying of Hazrat Luqman (peace be upon him) that he said to his son: "Son! Do not acquire knowledge so that you may boast over the scholars through it, or argue with the ignorant and foolish, or make yourself prominent in gatherings." Then he narrated this hadith of Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The greatest usury is to unjustly violate the honor of a Muslim. The womb (kinship) is a branch of the Most Merciful. Whoever severs kinship, Allah will make Paradise forbidden for him."
Hadith 1652
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is killed while protecting his wealth is a martyr, whoever is killed while protecting his family is also a martyr, whoever is killed while protecting his religion is also a martyr, and whoever is killed while protecting his life is also a martyr."
Hadith 1653
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 1654
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Saeed bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O group of Arabs! Give thanks to Allah that He has removed taxes from you."
