Hadith 27645
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، وَسُرَيْجٌ الْمَعْنَى , قَالَا : حدثَنَا نَافِعُ بْنُ عُمَرَ يَعْنِي الْجُمَحِيَّ ، عَنْ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي زُهَيْرٍ , كِلَاهُمَا قَالَ : عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي زُهَيْرٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ بِالنَّبَاءَةِ , أَوْ النَّبَاوَةِ , شَكَّ نَافِعُ بْنُ عُمَرَ , مِنَ الطَّائِفِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنَّكُمْ تُوشِكُونَ أَنْ تَعْرِفُوا أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ " ، أَوْ قَالَ : " خِيَارُكُمْ مِنْ شِرَارِكُمْ " ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ : بِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " بِالثَّنَاءِ السَّيِّئِ ، وَالثَّنَاءِ الْحَسَنِ ، وَأَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ " .
Abu Bakr bin Abi Zuhair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his father that I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) during the time of Prophethood in Taif saying: "O people! Soon you will be able to distinguish between the people of Paradise and the people of Hell, or between the good and the bad." A man asked: O Messenger of Allah! How is that? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Through the good and bad praise of people, because you are Allah's witnesses over one another on the earth.
