Hadith 27478
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ الْغَسَّانِيُّ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ حَكِيمُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ , وَحَبِيبُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لَا يَدَعْ رَجُلٌ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ لِلَّهِ أَلْفَ حَسَنَةٍ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ , يَقُولُ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ , فَإِنَّهَا أَلْفُ حَسَنَةٍ , فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَعْمَلُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فِي يَوْمِهِ مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ , وَيَكُونُ مَا عَمِلَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ سِوَى ذَلِكَ وَافِرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should neglect to earn a thousand good deeds every morning for the sake of Allah's pleasure; let him say «سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ» one hundred times, its reward is equal to a thousand good deeds, and, InshaAllah, that person will not be able to commit that many sins in that day, and whatever other good deeds he does will be in addition to this."
Hadith 27479
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ رُومَانَ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " مَنْ زَحْزَحَ عَنْ طَرِيقِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ شَيْئًا يُؤْذِيهِمْ , كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهِ حَسَنَةً , وَمَنْ كُتِبَ لَهُ عِنْدَهُ حَسَنَةٌ , أَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا الْجَنَّةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever removes something harmful from the path of the Muslims, Allah writes a good deed for him, and for whomsoever a good deed is written with Allah, Allah will admit him into Paradise."
Hadith 27480
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُرَيْحُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ , وَغَيْرُهُ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ : يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ , لَا تَعْجَزَنَّ مِنَ الْأَرْبَعِ رَكَعَاتٍ مِنْ أَوَّلِ نَهَارِكَ , أَكْفِكَ آخِرَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Naeem that he heard the Prophet saying: Allah Almighty says, O son of Adam! Do not show yourself incapable of offering four rak‘ahs in the first quarter of the day; I will suffice you till the last part of the day.
Hadith 27481
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ , قَال : حَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ الْمَشْيَخَةِ , عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ السَّكُونِيِّ , عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَ : أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِثَلَاثٍ لَا أَدَعُهُنَّ لِشَيْءٍ : أَوْصَانِي " بِصِيَامِ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ , وَأَنْ لَا أَنَامَ إِلَّا عَلَى وِتْرٍ , وَسُبْحَةِ الضُّحَى فِي الْحَضَرِ وَالسَّفَر " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that my beloved friend Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me regarding three things which I will never abandon: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me to fast three days every month, to perform Witr before sleeping, and to offer the Duha (forenoon) voluntary prayers whether at home or on a journey.
Hadith 27482
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَصَدَّقَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِثُلُثِ أَمْوَالِكُمْ عِنْدَ وَفَاتِكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah has ordained for you to give one third of your wealth in charity at the time of your death.
Hadith 27483
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ , عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ , عَنْ بَعْضِ إِخْوَانِهِ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " كُلُّ شَيْءٍ يَنْقُصُ إِلَّا الشَّرَّ , فَإِنَّهُ يُزَادُ فِيهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Everything decreases except evil, for it continues to increase.
Hadith 27484
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ السُّوَيْدِيُّ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يُونُسَ بْنَ مَيْسَرَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ عَائِذِ اللَّهِ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَاقٌّ , وَلَا مُؤْمِنٌ بِسِحْرٍ , وَلَا مُدْمِنُ خَمْرٍ , وَلَا مُكَذِّبٌ بِقَدَرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No one who is disobedient to parents, one who believes in magic, a habitual wine-drinker, or one who denies destiny will enter Paradise.
Hadith 27485
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَخٌ لِعَدِيِّ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ , عَنْ رَجُلٍ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَ : عَهِدَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَّ أَخْوَفَ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ الْأَئِمَّةُ الْمُضِلُّونَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), informing us, said: "What I fear most for you is misguided rulers."
Hadith 27486
حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَارِجَةَ , قالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ السُّلَمِيُّ , عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ بْنِ حَلْبَسٍ , عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لَوْ غُفِرَ لَكُمْ مَا تَأْتُونَ إِلَى الْبَهَائِمِ , لَغُفِرَ لَكُمْ كَثِيرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If those sins of yours are forgiven which you commit against animals, then many sins will be forgiven.
Hadith 27487
حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمٌ , وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ هَيْثَمٍ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ , عَنْ يُونُسَ , عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , أَرَأَيْتَ مَا نَعْمَلُ , أَمْرٌ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ , أَمْ أَمْرٌ نَسْتَأْنِفُهُ ؟ قَالَ : " بَلْ أَمْرٌ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ " , قَالُوا : فَكَيْفَ بِالْعَمَلِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مُهَيَّأٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that a companion asked the Prophet, "O Messenger of Allah! Tell us, the deeds that we do, have they already been written and finished, or does our action come first?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "They have already been written and finished." He said, "O Messenger of Allah! Then what is the benefit of action?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "For every person, only those deeds are made easy for which he was created."
Hadith 27488
حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمٌ وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْهُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ , عَنْ يُونُسَ , عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " خَلَقَ اللَّهُ آدَمَ حِينَ خَلَقَهُ , فَضَرَبَ كَتِفَهُ الْيُمْنَى , فَأَخْرَجَ ذُرِّيَّةً بَيْضَاءَ , كَأَنَّهُمْ الذَّرُّ , وَضَرَبَ كَتِفَهُ الْيُسْرَى , فَأَخْرَجَ ذُرِّيَّةً سَوْدَاءَ كَأَنَّهُمْ الْحُمَمُ , فَقَالَ لِلَّذِي فِي يَمِينِهِ : إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَلَا أُبَالِي , وَقَالَ لِلَّذِي فِي كَفِّهِ الْيُسْرَى : إِلَى النَّارِ وَلَا أُبَالِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Allah Almighty created Adam, He struck his right shoulder and brought forth a bright creation like ants, then He struck his left shoulder and brought forth another creation as black as coal. For those on the right, He said: These are for Paradise and I do not care, and for those on the left, He said: These are for Hell and I do not care.
Hadith 27489
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمٌ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ , عَنْ يُونُسَ , عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لِآدَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام : قُمْ فَجَهِّزْ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِكَ تِسْعَ مِائَةٍ وَتِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ إِلَى النَّارِ , وَوَاحِدًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ " , فَبَكَى أَصْحَابُهُ وَبَكَوْا , ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ارْفَعُوا رُءُوسَكُمْ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ , مَا أُمَّتِي فِي الْأُمَمِ إِلَّا كَالشَّعْرَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ فِي جِلْدِ الثَّوْرِ الْأَسْوَدِ " , فَخَفَّفَ ذَلِكَ عَنْهُمْ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will say to Hazrat Adam: "Rise and prepare from your offspring nine hundred and ninety-nine individuals for Hell and one person for Paradise." Upon hearing this, the companions began to weep. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: "Raise your heads. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, compared to other communities, the people of my Ummah will be like a white hair on the skin of a black ox." Then the burden of the companions was lightened.
Hadith 27490
حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمٌ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ , عَنْ يُونُسَ , عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَقِيقَةٌ , وَمَا بَلَغَ عَبْدٌ حَقِيقَةَ الْإِيمَانِ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَنَّ مَا أَصَابَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِيُخْطِئَهُ , وَمَا أَخْطَأَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِيُصِيبَهُ " , قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : حَدَّثَنِي الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَارِجَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ , بِهَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثِ كُلِّهَا , إِلَّا أَنَّهُ أَوْقَفَ مِنْهَا حَدِيثَ : " لَوْ غُفِرَ لَكُمْ مَا تَأْتُونَ إِلَى الْبَهَائِمِ " , وَقَدْ حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبِي عَنْهُ مَرْفُوعًا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Everything has a reality, and a person cannot attain the reality of faith until he is convinced that whatever affliction befell him could not have missed him, and whatever missed him could not have befallen him."
Hadith 27491
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ , عَنْ وَاهبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ , وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ , دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ " , قَالَ : قُلْتُ : وَإِنْ زَنَى , وَإِنْ سَرَقَ ؟ ! قَالَ : " وَإِنْ زَنَى , وَإِنْ سَرَقَ " , قُلْتُ : وَإِنْ زَنَى , وَإِنْ سَرَقَ ؟ ! قَالَ : " وَإِنْ زَنَى , وَإِنْ سَرَقَ " , قُلْتُ : وَإِنْ زَنَى , وَإِنْ سَرَقَ ؟ ! قَالَ : " وَإِنْ زَنَى , وَإِنْ سَرَقَ , عَلَى رَغْمِ أَنْفِ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ " , قَالَ : فَخَرَجْتُ لِأُنَادِيَ بِهَا فِي النَّاسِ , قَالَ : فَلَقِيَنِي عُمَرُ , فَقَالَ : ارْجِعْ , فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ إِنْ عَلِمُوا بِهَذِهِ , اتَّكَلُوا عَلَيْهَا , فَرَجَعْتُ , فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَدَقَ عُمَر " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among the servants declares "La ilaha illallah" and departs from this world upon this declaration, he will enter Paradise. I asked, "Even if he commits adultery and theft?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Yes! Even if he commits adultery and theft." This question and answer happened three times. The fourth time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes! Even if Abu Darda's nose becomes dust-covered." Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I went out among the people to announce this, but on the way, I met Hazrat Umar. He said, "Go back. If people come to know of this, they will rely on it and become complacent." So I returned and informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of this, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Umar speaks the truth."
Hadith 27492
حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ , عَنْ الْحَسَنِ , وأبي قلابة , أنهما كانا جالسين , فقال أبو قلابة : قَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ , قالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ تَرَكَ صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ مُتَعَمِّدًا حَتَّى تَفُوتَهُ , فَقَدْ أُحْبِطَ عَمَلُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever deliberately abandons the Asr prayer, all his deeds are rendered void.
Hadith 27493
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى , وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ , عَنْ بِلَالِ بْنِ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " مَا أَظَلَّتْ الْخَضْرَاءُ , وَلَا أَقَلَّتْ الْغَبْرَاءُ مِنْ ذِي لَهْجَةٍ أَصْدَقَ مِنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Under the shade of the sky and upon the face of the earth, there is no man more truthful than Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 27494
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ , عَنْ عُمَرَ الدِّمَشْقِيِّ , أَنَّ مُخْبِرًا أَخْبَرَهُ , عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " سَجَدْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ سَجْدَةً , مِنْهُنَّ سَجْدَةُ النَّجْمِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that I performed eleven prostrations in the Noble Qur'an with the Prophet, including the verse of prostration in Surah Najm.
Hadith 27495
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ يَعْنِي أَبَا دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيَّ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ , يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " أَيَعْجَزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ؟ " , فَقِيلَ : وَمَنْ يُطِيقُ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ : " اقْرَأْ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the companions, "Are you unable to recite one third of the Qur'an in a single night?" This seemed very difficult to the companions and they said, "Who will have the strength to do that?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Recite Surah Ikhlas, for it is equal to one third of the Qur'an."
Hadith 27496
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو , وَابْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ نَافِعٍ , عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ , عَنْ خَالِهِ عَطَاءِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ , أَنَّهُمْ دَخَلُوا عَلَى أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ , فَأَخْبَرَتْهُمْ , أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ , يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ شَيْءٍ فِي الْمِيزَانِ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ : أَثْقَلَ شَيْءٍ فِي الْمِيزَانِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْخُلُقُ الْحَسَنُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Judgment, the most excellent and heaviest thing in the scale of deeds will be good character.
Hadith 27497
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَيْمُونٌ يَعْنِي أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَرَئِيَّ التَّمِيمِيَّ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ , عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ , قَالَ : صَحِبْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ , أَتَعَلَّمُ مِنْهُ , فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ : آذِنْ النَّاسَ بِمَوْتِي , فَآذَنْتُ النَّاسَ بِمَوْتِهِ , فَجِئْتُ وَقَدْ مُلِئَ الدَّارُ وَمَا سِوَاهُ , قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : قَدْ آذَنْتُ النَّاسَ بِمَوْتِكَ , وَقَدْ مُلِئَ الدَّارُ وَمَا سِوَاهُ , قَالَ : أَخْرِجُونِي , فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُ , قَالَ : أَجْلِسُونِي , قَالَ : فَأَجْلَسْنَاهُ , قَالَ : يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ , إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ , فَأَسْبَغَ الْوُضُوءَ , ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ يُتِمُّهُمَا , أَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ مَا سَأَلَ مُعَجِّلًا أَوْ مُؤَخِّرًا " , قَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ : يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ , إِيَّاكُمْ وَالِالْتِفَاتَ , فَإِنَّهُ لَا صَلَاةَ لِلْمُلْتَفِتِ , فَإِنْ غُلِبْتُمْ فِي التَّطَوُّعِ , فَلَا تُغْلَبُنَّ فِي الْفَرِيضَةِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Salam that I had the honor of companionship with Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him), I used to acquire knowledge from him. When the time of his departure from this world approached, he said, "Inform the people of my final moments." So I went out to inform the people. When I returned, the whole house was filled and people were standing outside as well. I said, "I have informed the people and now the house is filled with people inside and outside." He said, "O people! I heard the Prophet say: Whoever performs ablution and does it well, then prays two rak'ahs with complete humility, Allah surely grants him whatever he asks for, whether immediately or after some delay." He further said, "O people! Avoid looking right and left in prayer, for such a person's prayer is not valid. If this happens in voluntary prayers, then do not let it overcome you in obligatory prayers."
Hadith 27498
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ , وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ , قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ , عَنْ قَتَادَةَ , عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ , عَنْ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْيَعْمُرِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " أَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ؟ " , قَالُوا : نَحْنُ أَضْعَفُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَعْجَزُ , قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ جَزَّأَ الْقُرْآنَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ , فَجَعَلَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ , جُزْءًا مِنْ أَجْزَاءِ الْقُرْآنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the companions, "Are you unable to recite one third of the Qur'an in a single night?" This seemed very difficult to the companions and they said, "Who has the strength for this? We are very weak and incapable." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allah Almighty has divided the Noble Qur'an into three parts, and Surah Ikhlas has been considered as one of those parts."
Hadith 27499
حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يُونُسَ , يُحَدِّثُ , عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ , أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَتَذَاكَرُ مَا يَكُونُ , إِذْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِجَبَلٍ زَالَ عَنْ مَكَانِهِ , فَصَدِّقُوا , وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِرَجُلٍ تَغَيَّرَ عَنْ خُلُقِهِ , فَلَا تُصَدِّقُوا بِهِ , وَإِنَّهُ يَصِيرُ إِلَى مَا جُبِلَ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) discussing the events to come, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you hear that a mountain has moved from its place, you may believe it, but if you hear that a man's character has changed, do not believe it, because he will return to his nature.
Hadith 27500
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ , عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ وَهُوَ مُغْضَبٌ , فَقُلْتُ : مَنْ أَغْضَبَكَ ؟ قَالَ : " وَاللَّهِ لَا أَعْرِفُ فِيهِمْ مِنْ أَمْرِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا , إِلَّا أَنَّهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ جَمِيعًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Darda that once Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) came to her in a state of extreme anger. She asked the reason, so he said, "By Allah! I do not see any of the Prophet's teachings among the people. Now, only this much remains that they gather together and perform the prayer."
Hadith 27501
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ , عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ , عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ وَهُوَ مُغْضَبٌ , فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : مَا لَكَ ؟ فَقَالَ : " مَا أَعْرِفُ مِنْ أَمْرِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا الصَّلَاةَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Darda that once Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) came to her in a state of extreme anger. She asked the reason, so he said, "By Allah! Hadith 27502
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ , عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ , عَنْ يَعِيشَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَهُ , أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَعْدَانُ بْنُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ , أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ أَخْبَرَهُ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , " قَاءَ , فَأَفْطَرَ " , قَالَ : فَلَقِيتُ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَسْجِدِ دِمَشْقَ , فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَاءَ فَأَفْطَرَ , قَالَ : صَدَقَ ، أَنَا صَبَبْتُ لَهُ وَضُوءَهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet vomited, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) broke his fast. The narrator says that then I met the freed slave of the Prophet, Hazrat Thawban, in the mosque of Damascus and said to him that Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) has told me that when the Prophet vomited, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) broke his fast. He said that Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) has spoken the truth; it was I who poured water for the Prophet.
Hadith 27503
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْقُوبَ يَعْنِي إِسْحَاقَ بْنَ عُثْمَانَ الْكِلَابِيَّ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ خَالِدَ بْنَ دُرَيْكٍ , يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , يَرْفَعُ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَجْمَعُ اللَّهُ فِي جَوْفِ رَجُلٍ غُبَارًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ , وَدُخَانَ جَهَنَّمَ , وَمَنْ اغْبَرَّتْ قَدَمَاهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ , حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ سَائِرَ جَسَدِهِ عَلَى النَّارِ , وَمَنْ صَامَ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ , بَاعَدَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ النَّارَ مَسِيرَةَ أَلْفِ سَنَةٍ لِلرَّاكِبِ الْمُسْتَعْجِلِ , وَمَنْ جُرِحَ جِرَاحَةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ , خَتَمَ لَهُ بِخَاتَمِ الشُّهَدَاءِ , لَهُ نُورٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ , لَوْنُهَا مِثْلُ لَوْنِ الزَّعْفَرَانِ , وَرِيحُهَا مِثْلُ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ , يَعْرِفُهُ بِهَا الْأَوَّلُونَ وَالْآخِرُونَ , يَقُولُونَ : فُلَانٌ عَلَيْهِ طَابَعُ الشُّهَدَاءِ , وَمَنْ قَاتَلَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فُوَاقَ نَاقَةٍ , وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty will not combine the dust of striving in the way of Allah and the smoke of Hell in the belly of a man. Whoever's feet become dusty in the path of Allah, Allah will make his whole body forbidden to the Fire. Whoever fasts for one day in the way of Allah, Allah distances Hell from him by a distance of one thousand years, which a swift rider could cover. Whoever receives a wound or suffers pain in the way of Allah, on the Day of Resurrection it will come forth flowing even more, but on that day its color will be like saffron and its fragrance like musk. And whoever receives a wound in the way of Allah, a seal of the martyrs is placed upon it, and the first and the last will recognize him by it and say: This is the man with the seal of the martyrs. And any Muslim who fights in the way of Allah for the time it takes for milk to flow from a she-camel’s teats, Paradise becomes obligatory for him.
Hadith 27504
حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ , عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَيَّانَ , وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ , عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَ : " لَقَدْ رَأَيْنَا فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِنَا , وَإِنَّ أَحَدَنَا لَيَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ , وَمَا فِي الْقَوْمِ صَائِمٌ , إِلَّا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ " , وَقَالَ أَبُو عَامِرٍ : عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ وَحْدَهُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were on a journey with the Prophet, and due to the intensity of the heat, we would place our hands on our heads, and on that occasion, none of us was fasting except the Prophet and Hazrat Abdullah bin Rawaha.
Hadith 27505
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ , عَنِ ثَابِتٍ , أَوْ عَنْ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ , أَنَّ رَجُلًا دَخَلَ مَسْجِدَ دِمَشْقَ , فَقَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ آنِسْ وَحْشَتِي , وَارْحَمْ غُرْبَتِي , وَارْزُقْنِي جَلِيسًا حَبِيبًا صَالِحًا , فَسَمِعَهُ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ , فَقَالَ : لَئِنْ كُنْتَ صَادِقًا , لَأَنَا أَسْعَدُ بِمَا قُلْتَ مِنْكَ , سمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " فَمِنْهُمْ ظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ سورة فاطر آية 32 , قَالَ : الظَّالِمُ يُؤْخَذُ مِنْهُ فِي مَقَامِهِ , فَذَلِكَ الْهَمُّ وَالْحَزَنُ , وَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِدٌ سورة فاطر آية 32 , يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا , وَمِنْهُمْ سَابِقٌ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ سورة فاطر آية 32 , فَذَلِكَ الَّذِينَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ " .
It is narrated from Thaqib or Abu Thaqib that a man entered the mosque of Damascus and made this supplication: "O Allah! Grant me a companion in my solitude, have mercy on my estrangement, and grant me a good friend." Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) heard his supplication and said, "If you are making this supplication sincerely, then I am more fortunate than you in this supplication. I heard the Prophet interpreting this verse of the Noble Qur'an, saying that the oppressor will be held accountable for his deeds at that very place, and that will be the grief and estimation, meaning some people will be of a moderate rank, their reckoning will be easy, and these are the people who will enter Paradise without any reckoning."
Hadith 27506
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ مَوْلَى بَنِي يَزِيدَ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , أَنَّ رَجُلًا مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يَغْرِسُ غَرْسًا بِدِمَشْقَ , فَقَالَ لَهُ : أَتَفْعَلُ هَذَا وَأَنْتَ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ ! فَقَالَ : لَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيَّ , سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " مَنْ غَرَسَ غَرْسًا لَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ آدَمِيٌّ , وَلَا خَلْقٌ مِنْ خَلْقِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ , إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ صَدَقَةً " , قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ , قَالَ أَبِي , قَالَ الْأَشْجَعِيُ , يَعْنِي عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ , عَنْ أَبِي زِيَادٍ : دَخَلْتُ مَسْجِدَ دِمَشْقَ.
Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) was planting a sapling one day in Damascus when a man passed by him and said, "You are a companion of the Prophet, and yet you are doing this work?" He replied, "Do not be hasty; I heard the Prophet say that whoever plants a sapling, and whatever a human or any creature of Allah eats from it, it becomes charity for him." The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 27507
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ , عَنْ عَاصِمٍ , عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ , لَا تَخْتَصَّ لَيْلَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ بِقِيَامٍ دُونَ اللَّيَالِي , وَلَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ بِصِيَامٍ دُونَ الْأَيَّامِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Darda, do not single out the night of Friday among other nights for standing (in prayer), nor single out Friday among other days for fasting.
Hadith 27508
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ , عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ , عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ , عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ , عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَفْضَلَ مِنْ دَرَجَةِ الصَّلَاةِ , وَالصِّيَامِ , وَالصَّدَقَةِ ؟ " , قَالُوا : بَلَى , قَالَ : " إِصْلَاحُ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ وَفَسَادُ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ هِيَ الْحَالِقة " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not tell you of an act that is superior in rank to prayer, fasting, and zakat? The companions said: Why not? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Reconciling between people who have fallen apart, for causing discord and corruption among such people is the shaver (that shaves off religion).
Hadith 27509
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْوَصَّافِيُّ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ سَمِعَ مِنْ رَجُلٍ حَدِيثًا لَا يَشْتَهِي أَنْ يُذْكَرَ عَنْهُ , فَهُوَ أَمَانَةٌ , وَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَكْتِمْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever hears something from someone, and that person does not want that statement to be mentioned with reference to him, then it is a trust, even if he does not explicitly ask for it to be kept secret.
Hadith 27510
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ , عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ , عَنْ رَجُلٍ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُمُ الْبُشْرَى فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الآخِرَةِ سورة يونس آية 64 , قَالَ : " الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ يَرَاهَا الْمُسْلِمُ أَوْ تُرَى لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained the Quranic verse "For them are glad tidings in the life of this world" by saying that what is meant by glad tidings are good dreams which a Muslim sees himself or which someone else sees for him.
Hadith 27511
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ , عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ , قَالَ : كَانَ فِينَا رَجُلٌ لَمْ تَزَلْ بِهِ أُمُّهُ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ حَتَّى تَزَوَّجَ , ثُمَّ أَمَرَتْهُ أَنْ يُفَارِقَهَا , فَرَحَلَ إِلَى أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ بِالشَّامِ , فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أُمِّي لَمْ تَزَلْ بِي حَتَّى تَزَوَّجْتُ , ثُمَّ أَمَرَتْنِي أَنْ أُفَارِقَ , قَالَ : مَا أَنَا بِالَّذِي آمُرُكَ أَنْ تُفَارِقَ , وَمَا أَنَا بِالَّذِي آمُرُكَ أَنْ تُمْسِكَ , سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " الْوَالِدُ أَوْسَطُ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ " , فَأَضِعْ ذَلِكَ الْبَابَ , أَوْ احْفَظْهُ , قَالَ : فَرَجَعَ وَقَدْ فَارَقَهَا.
Abu Abdur Rahman Salami says that there was a man among us whose mother kept insisting that he should get married. When he got married, his mother ordered him to divorce his wife (but he refused). Then that man went to Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him about this issue. He replied, "I neither advise you to divorce her nor to keep her, but I heard the Prophet say that the father is the middle gate of Paradise. Now it is up to you whether you protect it or let it go." That man left and divorced his wife.
Hadith 27512
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ السَّعْدِيِّ , قَالَ : أَمَرَنِي نَاسٌ مِنْ قَوْمِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ , عَنْ سِنَانٍ, يُحَدِّدُونَهُ وَيُرَكِّزُونَهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ , فَيُصْبِحُ وَقَدْ قَتَلَ الضَّبُعَ , أَتُرَاهُ ذَكَاتَهُ ؟ قَالَ : فَجَلَسْتُ إِلَى سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ , فَإِذَا عِنْدَهُ شَيْخٌ أَبْيَضُ الرَّأْسِ وَاللِّحْيَةِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ , فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ؟ فَقَالَ لِي : وَإِنَّكَ لَتَأْكُلُ الضَّبُعَ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : مَا أَكَلْتُهَا قَطُّ , وَإِنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ قَوْمِي لَيَأْكُلُونَهَا , قَالَ : فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أَكْلَهَا لَا يَحِلُّ , قَالَ : فَقَال َ الشَّيْخُ : يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ , أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ بِحَدِيثٍ سَمِعْتُه ُ مِنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , يَرْوِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : بَلَى , قَالَ : فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ , يَقُولُ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ " كُلِّ ذِي خِطْفَةٍ , وَعَنْ كُلِّ نُهْبَةٍ , وَعَنْ كُلِّ مُجَثَّمَةٍ , وَعَنْ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنَ السِّبَاعِ " , قَالَ : فَقَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ : صَدَقَ.
Abdullah bin Yazid says that I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib about the lizard, and he declared it disliked. I said to him, "Your people eat it?" He replied, "They might not know." Upon this, a man present there said, "I heard this hadith from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade every animal obtained through plunder, that which is snatched, or every predator that hunts with its canine teeth." Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib affirmed this.
