حَدِيثُ سُبَيْعَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيَّةِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا
Hadith of Subay‘ah al-Aslamiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her)
Hadith 27435
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : أَرْسَلَ مَرْوَانُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُتْبَةَ إِلَى سُبَيْعَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ , يَسْأَلُهَا عَمَّا أَفْتَاهَا بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَأَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَحْتَ سَعْدِ ابْنِ خَوْلَةَ , فَتُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ , وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا , فَوَضَعَتْ حَمْلَهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْقَضِيَ أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرٌ مِنْ وَفَاتِهِ , فَلَقِيَهَا أَبُو السَّنَابِلِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ بَعْكَكٍ حِينَ تَعَلَّتْ مِنْ نِفَاسِهَا وَقَدْ اكْتَحَلَتْ , فَقَالَ لَهَا : ارْبَعِي عَلَى نَفْسِكِ أَوْ نَحْوَ هَذَا لَعَلَّكِ تُرِيدِينَ النِّكَاحَ , إِنَّهَا أَرْبَعَةُ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرٌ مِنْ وَفَاةِ زَوْجِكِ , قَالَتْ : فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَذَكَرْتُ لَهُ مَا قَالَ أَبُو السَّنَابِلِ بْنُ بَعْكَكٍ , فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَدْ حَلَلْتِ حِينَ وَضَعْتِ حَمْلَكِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sanabil (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sabi'ah gave birth to a child only 23 or 25 days after the death of her husband, and she began to prepare for another marriage. After the completion of her postnatal bleeding, Abu Sanabil met her and she had applied kohl. Abu Sanabil said, "Control yourself, perhaps you wish to marry again? Remember! After the death of your husband, your waiting period is four months and ten days." She says that I presented myself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned Abu Sanabil's statement to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have become lawful (for marriage) after childbirth."
Hadith 27436
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا رَبَاحٌ , عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ , عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ , قَالَ : إِنَّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ كَتَبَ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْأَرْقَمِ يَأْمُرُهُ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ عَلَى سُبَيْعَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ , يَسْأَلُهَا عَمَّا أَفْتَاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَزَعَمَتْ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَحْتَ سَعْدِ ابْنِ خَوْلَةَ , فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ .
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 27437
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي , عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : كَتَبْتُ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْأَرْقَمِ آمُرُهُ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ عَلَى سُبَيْعَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيَّةِ , فَيَسْأَلَهَا عَنْ شَأْنِهَا , قَالَ : فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا , فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 27438
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي , عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ التَّيْمِيُّ , عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى سُبَيْعَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيَّةِ فَسَأَلْتُهَا عَنْ أَمْرِهَا ؟ فَقَالَتْ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ سَعْدِ ابْنِ خَوْلَةَ فَتُوُفِّيَ عَنِّي , فَلَمْ أَمْكُثْ إِلَّا شَهْرَيْنِ حَتَّى وَضَعْتُ , قَالَتْ : فَخَطَبَنِي أَبُو السَّنَابِلِ بْنُ بَعْكَكٍ أَخُو بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ , فَتَهَيَّأْتُ لِلنِّكَاحِ , قَالَتْ : فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ حَمَوَيَّ , وَقَدْ اخْتَضَبْتُ وَتَهَيَّأْتُ , فَقَالَ : مَاذَا تُرِيدِينَ يَا سُبَيْعَةُ ؟ قَالَتْ : فَقُلْتُ : أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ , قَالَ : وَاللَّهِ مَا لَكِ مِنْ زَوْجٍ حَتَّى تَعْتَدِّينَ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا , قَالَتْ : فَجِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ , فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِي : " قَدْ حَلَلْتِ , فَتَزَوَّجِي " .
