حَدِيثُ أَبِي رَافِعٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Abu Rafi‘ (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 27180
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الشَّرِيدِ , عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " الْجَارُ أَحَقُّ بِصَقَبِهِ ، أَوْ سَقَبِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The neighbor has more right to pre-emption (shuf‘a)."
Hadith 27181
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَسْلَفَ مِنْ رَجُلٍ بَكْرًا ، فَأَتَتْهُ إِبِلٌ مِنْ إِبِلِ الصَّدَقَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَعْطُوهُ " ، فَقَالُوا : لَا نَجِدُ لَهُ إِلَّا رَبَاعِيًا خِيَارًا ؟ قَالَ : " أَعْطُوهُ ، فَإِنَّ خِيَارَ النَّاسِ أَحْسَنُهُمْ قَضَاءً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took a camel on loan from a Bedouin. The Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) to demand his camel. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to the companions: “Find a camel of the same age as his and bring it.” The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) searched but could not find a camel of the required age; every camel was older than that. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Then give him an older camel. The best among you is the one who is best in repaying debts.”
Hadith 27182
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنِا الْحَكَمُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ , أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي مَخْزُومٍ عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ ، فَقَالَ : أَلَا تَصْحَبُنِي تُصِيبُ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : حَتَّى أَذْكُرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ له ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّا آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ لَا تَحِلُّ لَنَا الصَّدَقَةُ ، وَإِنَّ مَوْلَى الْقَوْمِ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) or his son passed by me; they had been appointed for the collection of zakat. He invited me to go with him. I presented myself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about this matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Rafi’! Zakat is forbidden for Muhammad and the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the freed slave of a people is counted among them.
Hadith 27183
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ , وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا وَلَدَتْ فَاطِمَةُ حَسَنًا ، قَالَتْ : أَلَا أَعُقُّ عَنِ ابْنِي بِدَمٍ ؟ قَالَ : " لَا ، وَلَكِنْ احْلِقِي رَأْسَهُ ، وَتَصَدَّقِي بِوَزْنِ شَعْرِهِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ عَلَى الْمَسَاكِينِ وَالْأَوْفَاضِ " , وَكَانَ الْأَوْفَاضُ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُحْتَاجِينَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ , أَوْ فِي الصُّفَّةِ ، وَقَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ : " مِنَ الْوَرِقِ عَلَى الْأَوْفَاضِ , يَعْنِي أَهْلَ الصُّفَّةِ , أَوْ عَلَى الْمَسَاكِينِ " , فَفَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَتْ : فَلَمَّا وَلَدْتُ حُسَيْنًا , فَعَلْتُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) was born, his mother Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) wanted to perform his ‘aqiqah with two rams. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not perform his ‘aqiqah yet, rather shave his head and give silver in charity equal to the weight of his hair in the way of Allah. Then, upon the birth of Hazrat Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) did the same (and the ‘aqiqah was performed by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself).
Hadith 27184
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مُخَوَّلِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الرَّجُلُ وَشَعْرُهُ مَعْقُوصٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade men from tying their hair in knots while performing prayer.
Hadith 27185
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو , أَنَّ بُكَيْرًا حَدَّثَهُ , أَنَّ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : كُنْتُ فِي بَعْثٍ مَرَّةً ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اذْهَبْ فَأْتِنِي بِمَيْمُونَةَ " ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ , إِنِّي فِي الْبَعْثِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلًم : " أَلَسْتَ تُحِبًّ مَا أُحِبُّ ؟ " , قُلْتُ : بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " اذْهَبْ ، فَأْتِنِي بِهَا " , فَذَهَبْتُ ، فَجِئْتُهُ بِهَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was part of an army. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: “Go and call Maimunah to me.” I submitted: O Messenger of Allah! I am included in the army. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) repeated his statement, and I again presented my excuse. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do you not like what I like?” I said: Why not, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Go and call her to me.” So I went and called her.
Hadith 27186
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ , أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَذَّنَ فِي أُذُنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ حِينَ وَلَدَتْهُ فَاطِمَةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth to Hazrat Husain bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them), I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself gave the call to prayer (adhan) in his ear.
Hadith 27187
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَافَ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ، فَاغْتَسَلَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ غُسْلًا ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , لَوْ اغْتَسَلْتَ غُسْلًا وَاحِدًا ؟ فَقَالَ : " هَذَا أَطْهَرُ وَأَطْيَبُ " .
Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) visited all his noble wives in a single day, and after being with each one, he performed ghusl (ritual bath). Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah! If you had performed ghusl only once (would there have been any harm)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied that this method is more pure, excellent, and clean.
Hadith 27188
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَحْلَاءَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرِّجَالِ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَنْ أَقْتُلَ الْكِلَابَ " ، فَخَرَجْتُ أَقْتُلُهَا لَا أَرَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا قَتَلْتُهُ ، فَإِذَا كَلْبٌ يَدُورُ بِبَيْتٍ ، فَذَهَبْتُ لِأَقْتُلَهُ , فَنَادَانِي إِنْسَانٌ مِنْ جَوْفِ الْبَيْتِ : يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ، مَا تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَصْنَعَ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَقْتُلَ هَذَا الْكَلْبَ ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ مُضَيَّعَةٌ ، وَإِنَّ هَذَا الْكَلْبَ يَطْرُدُ عَنِّي السَّبُعَ ، وَيُؤْذِنُنِي بِالْجَائِي ، فَأْتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَاذْكُرْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَأَمَرَنِي بِقَتْلِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: “O Abu Rafi’! Kill all the dogs found in Madinah.” He says that I saw some women of the Ansar in Jannat al-Baqi’ with some trees, and those women also had dogs with them. They said: “O Abu Rafi’! The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has sent our men for jihad. After Allah, only these dogs protect us, and by Allah, no one dares to come near us. Even when any one of us women stands up, these dogs become a barrier between her and the people. Therefore, mention this matter to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” So, I mentioned this matter to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Abu Rafi’! Kill them; Allah Himself will protect the women.”
Hadith 27189
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ الْمُؤَذِّنَ قَالَ مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ ، فَإِذَا قَالَ : حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، قَالَ : " لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the voice of the muezzin, he would repeat the same phrases that he was saying, but when he reached «حي على الصلوة» and «حي على الفلاح», the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say «لا حول ولا قوة الا بالله».
Hadith 27190
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا ضَحَّى ، اشْتَرَى كَبْشَيْنِ سَمِينَيْنِ ، أَقْرَنَيْنِ أَمْلَحَيْنِ ، فَإِذَا صَلَّى وَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ ، أَتَى بِأَحَدِهِمَا وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ ، فَذَبَحَهُ بِنَفْسِهِ بِالْمُدْيَةِ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا عَنْ أُمَّتِي جَمِيعًا مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ لَكَ بِالتَّوْحِيدِ ، وَشَهِدَ لِي بِالْبَلَاغِ " ، ثُمَّ يُؤْتَى بِالْآخَرِ ، فَيَذْبَحُهُ بِنَفْسِهِ , وَيَقُولُ : " هَذَا عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ " , فَيُطْعِمُهُمَا جَمِيعًا الْمَسَاكِينَ ، وَيَأْكُلُ هُوَ وَأَهْلُهُ مِنْهُمَا , فَمَكَثْنَا سِنِينَ ، لَيْسَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ يُضَحِّي ، قَدْ كَفَاهُ اللَّهُ الْمُؤْنَةَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْغُرْمَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sacrificed two beautiful and castrated rams and said: “One of them is on behalf of every person who bears witness to the oneness of Allah and to the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the other is on behalf of myself and my family.” The narrator says that in this way the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sufficed us.
Hadith 27191
حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، فَذَكَرَهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ وَمَعْنَاهُ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 27192
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَنْبُوذٌ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ ، رُبَّمَا ذَهَبَ إِلَى بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ، فَيَتَحَدَّثُ حَتَّى يَنْحَدِرَ لِلْمَغْرِبِ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ أَبُو رَافِعٍ : فَبَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُسْرِعًا إِلَى الْمَغْرِبِ , إِذْ مَرَّ بِالْبَقِيعِ ، فَقَالَ : " أُفٍّ لَكَ , أُفٍّ لَكَ " , مَرَّتَيْنِ , فَكَبُرَ فِي ذَرْعِي وَتَأَخَّرْتُ ، وَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ يُرِيدُنِي ، فَقَالَ : " مَا لَكَ ؟ ! امْشِ " ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَحْدَثْتُ حَدَثًا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " وَمَا ذَاكَ ؟ " , قُلْتُ : أَفَّفْتَ بِي ، قَالَ : " لَا ، وَلَكِنَّ هَذَا قَبْرُ فُلَانٍ ، بَعَثْتُهُ سَاعِيًا عَلَى بَنِي فُلَانٍ ، فَغَلَّ نَمِرَةً ، فَدُرِّعَ الْآنَ مِثْلَهَا مِنْ نَارٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that after performing the Asr prayer, sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would go to the people of Banu Abd al-Ashhal and converse with them, and would return from there at the time of Maghrib. One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was returning quickly for the Maghrib prayer and passed by Jannat al-Baqi’, where the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said twice: “Woe to you.” (Since I was accompanying the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)), this weighed heavily on my mind and I fell behind, thinking that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) meant me. Seeing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “What happened to you? Keep walking.” I submitted: “O Messenger of Allah! Have I committed any sin?” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “What do you mean?” I submitted that you said «تف» to me (twice). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “No, in fact, I said that at the grave of such-and-such a man, whom I had sent to such-and-such a tribe to collect zakat. He committed a breach of trust and hid a sheet, and now he is being made to wear a sheet of fire in the same way.”
Hadith 27193
حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ مَنْبُوذٍ رَجُلٍ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، فَذَكَرَهُ , إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : فَكَبُرَ ذَلِكَ فِي ذَرْعِي ، وَقَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَحْدَثْتُ حَدَثًا ؟ قَالَ : " وَمَا ذَاكَ ؟ " , قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَفَّفْتَ.
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 27194
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَذَّنَ فِي أُذُنِ الْحَسَنِ يَوْمَ وَلَدَتْهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth to Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself gave the call to prayer (adhan) in his ear.

حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ يَعْنِي الرَّازِيَّ ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : أُهْدِيَتْ لَهُ شَاةٌ ، فَجَعَلَهَا فِي الْقِدْرِ ، فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذَا يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ ؟ " , فَقَالَ : شَاةٌ أُهْدِيَتْ لَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَطَبَخْتُهَا فِي الْقِدْرِ ، فَقَالَ : " نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ " ، فَنَاوَلْتُهُ الذِّرَاعَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " نَاوِلنِي الذِّرَاعَ الْآخَرَ " , فَنَاوَلْتُهُ الذِّرَاعَ الْآخَرَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ الْآخَرَ " , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّمَا لِلشَّاةِ ذِرَاعَانِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ سَكَتَّ ، لَنَاوَلْتَنِي ذِرَاعًا فَذِرَاعًا مَا سَكَتَّ " ، ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَمَضْمَضَ فَاهُ ، وَغَسَلَ أَطْرَافَ أَصَابِعِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ، ثُمَّ عَادَ إِلَيْهِمْ ، فَوَجَدَ عِنْدَهُمْ لَحْمًا بَارِدًا ، فَأَكَلَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَصَلَّى ، وَلَمْ يَمَسَّ مَاءً .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he cooked meat in a pot for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Give me its foreleg.” So I gave it to him. After a little while, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for another foreleg, and I gave that too. After a little while, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again asked for a foreleg. I said: “O Messenger of Allah! How many forelegs does a goat have?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if you had remained silent, forelegs would have continued to come out of this pot as long as I kept asking you.” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water, rinsed his mouth, washed the tips of his fingers, and stood up to pray. Then he came back to them and found some cold meat lying there; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate that as well, and entered the mosque and performed prayer without touching water.
Hadith 27196
حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، قَال : فَسَأَلْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ فَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَنَّ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ لَمَّا وُلِدَ , أَرَادَتْ أُمُّهُ فَاطِمَةُ أَنْ تَعُقَّ عَنْهُ بِكَبْشَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَا تَعُقِّي عَنْهُ ، وَلَكِنْ احْلِقِي شَعْرَ رَأْسِهِ ، ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقِي بِوَزْنِهِ مِنَ الْوَرِقِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " ، ثُمَّ وُلِدَ حُسَيْنٌ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، فَصَنَعَتْ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Hazrat Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) was born, his mother Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) wanted to perform his ‘aqiqah with two rams. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Do not perform his ‘aqiqah yet, rather shave his head and give silver in charity equal to the weight of his hair in the way of Allah. Then, upon the birth of Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) did the same (and the ‘aqiqah was performed by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself).
Hadith 27197
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ , وَيُونُسُ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَطَرٌ ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " تَزَوَّجَ مَيْمُونَةَ حَلَالًا ، وَبَنَى بِهَا حَلَالًا ، وَكُنْتُ الرَّسُولَ بَيْنَهُمَا " .
Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) married Hazrat Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) when she was not yet a mahram, and he was alone with her when she was still not a mahram, and I was the messenger between the two of them.
Hadith 27198
حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ مَوْلَى بَنِي جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ : " إِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ عَائِشَةَ أَمْرٌ " ، قَالَ : أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " , قَالَ : أَنَا ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ " ، قَالَ : فَأَنَا أَشْقَاهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " لَا ، وَلَكِنْ إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ ، فَارْدُدْهَا إِلَى مَأْمَنِهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had told Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that there will be some discord between you and Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: O Messenger of Allah! Will I do such a thing? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Yes!” Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: O Messenger of Allah! Then I will be the most wretched of all. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “No, but when this happens, return her to her place of safety.”
