حَدِيثُ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Qatadah ibn al-Nu‘man (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 27156
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو , وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ شَرِيكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ , وَعَمِّهِ قَتَادَةَ , أن رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " كُلُوا لُحُومَ الْأَضَاحِيِّ وَادَّخِرُوا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri and Hazrat Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You may eat the meat of sacrifice and you may store it as well."
Hadith 27157
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَانِيَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ , قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ هَذِهِ امْرَأَتَهُ , وَعِنْدَهَا لَحْمٌ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْأَضَاحِيِّ قَدْ رَفَعَتْهُ ، فَرَفَعْتُ عَلَيْهَا الْعَصَا ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنَّ فُلَانًا أَتَانَا ، فَأَخْبَرَنَا , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنِّي كُنْتُ نَهَيْتُكُمْ أَنْ تُمْسِكُوا لُحُومَ الْأَضَاحِيِّ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ ، فَكُلُوا وَادَّخِرُوا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri and Hazrat Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Previously, I forbade you from keeping the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days, but now you may eat the meat of sacrifice and also store it."
Hadith 27158
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَنَّ قَتَادَةَ بْنَ النُّعْمَانِ الظَّفَرِيَّ ، وَقَعَ بِقُرَيْشٍ ، فَكَأَنَّهُ نَالَ مِنْهُمْ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا قَتَادَةُ ، لَا تَسُبَّنَّ قُرَيْشًا ، فَلَعَلَّكَ أَنْ تَرَى مِنْهُمْ رِجَالًا تَزْدَرِي عَمَلَكَ مَعَ أَعْمَالِهِمْ ، وَفِعْلَكَ مَعَ أَفْعَالِهِمْ ، وَتَغْبِطُهُمْ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ ، لَوْلَا أَنْ تَطْغَى قُرَيْشٌ ، لَأَخْبَرْتُهُمْ بِالَّذِي لَهُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " ، قَالَ يَزِيدُ : سَمِعَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ وَأَنَا أُحَدِّثُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ، فَقَالَ : هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ جَدِّهِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Qatadah bin Nu’man (may Allah be pleased with him) that on one occasion he spoke harsh words about the Quraishi people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard this and said: O Qatadah! Do not speak ill of the Quraish, for you will see many men among them, and when you compare your deeds to theirs and your actions to theirs, you will consider your own deeds and actions insignificant. And when you see them, you will envy them. If there were not a danger of the Quraish falling into arrogance, I would have told them what status and rank they have with Allah. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.
