Hadith of Salma bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her)
Hadith 27133
حدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَلِيطُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، عَنْ سَلْمَى بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ وَكَانَتْ إِحْدَى خَالَاتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ صَلَّتْ مَعَهُ الْقِبْلَتَيْنِ ، وَكَانَتْ إِحْدَى نِسَاءِ بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ النَّجَّارِ ، قَالَتْ : جِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَبَايَعْتُهُ فِي نِسْوَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فَلَمَّا شَرَطَ عَلَيْنَا أَنْ لَا نُشْرِكَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا ، وَلَا نَسْرِقَ وَلَا نَزْنِيَ ، وَلَا نَقْتُلَ أَوْلَادَنَا ، وَلَا نَأْتِيَ بِبُهْتَان نَفْتَرِيهِ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَأَرْجُلِنَا ، وَلَا نَعْصِيَهُ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ ، قَالَت : قَالَ : " وَلَا تَغْشُشْنَ أَزْوَاجَكُنَّ " ، قَالَتْ : فَبَايَعْنَاهُ ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفْنَا ، فَقُلْتُ لِامْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ : ارْجِعِي فَاسْأَلِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا غِشُّ أَزْوَاجِنَا ؟ قَالَتْ : فَسَأَلَتْهُ ، فَقَالَ : " تَأْخُذُ مَالَهُ ، فَتُحَابِي بِهِ غَيْرَهُ " .
Hazrat Salma bint Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) — who was a maternal aunt of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and among those who prayed facing both Qiblahs — narrates that I, along with some Muslim women, presented ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pledge allegiance, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stipulated the condition that you will not associate anyone with Allah, will not steal, will not commit adultery, will not kill your children, will not fabricate any slander between your hands and feet, will not disobey the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in any good work, and will not deceive your husbands. We pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on these conditions. When we were about to leave, one of the women said: Go and ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what is meant by deceiving the husband? Upon asking, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Taking his wealth and spending it unjustly on someone else."
