حَدِيثُ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا
Hadith of Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her)
Hadith 27113
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَكِيمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ بِنْتِ مِلْحَانَ وَهِيَ أُمُّ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ , أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " مَا مِنَ امْرَأَيْنِ مُسْلِمَيْنِ يَمُوتُ لَهُمَا ثَلَاثَةُ أَوْلَادٍ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحِنْثَ ، إِلَّا أَدْخَلَهُمْ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَرَحْمَتِهِ إِيَّاهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "That Muslim man whose three minor children have passed away, Allah will, by His grace and mercy, grant their parents entry into Paradise."
Hadith 27114
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمْرٍو , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرَأَيْتَكَ الْمَرْأَةَ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ ؟ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ : فَضَحْتِ النِّسَاءَ ، قَالَتْ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ رَأَى ذَلِكَ مِنْكُنَّ ، فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) that once I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "If a woman sees a dream like a man sees, what is the ruling?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a woman sees such a dream and experiences discharge, she should perform ghusl (ritual bath)." Umm al-Mu'mineen Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) started laughing, so Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said that Allah does not shy away from the truth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any woman among you who sees such a dream should perform ghusl."
Hadith 27115
حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرُّؤَاسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ ابْنِ ابْنَةِ أَنَسٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ بن مالك ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمِّي , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَفِي بَيْتِهَا قِرْبَةٌ مُعَلَّقَةٌ ، قَالَتْ : " فَشَرِبَ مِنَ الْقِرْبَةِ قَائِمًا " ، قَالَتْ : فَعَمَدْتُ إِلَى فَمِ الْقِرْبَةِ ، فَقَطَعْتُهَا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her house. There was a water-skin hanging in her house. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood and drank water from the mouth of that water-skin. Afterwards, I cut off the mouth of that water-skin (from which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had drunk) and kept it with me.
Hadith 27116
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ : أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ مَعَ نِسَاءِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَهُنَّ يَسُوقُ بِهِنَّ سَوَّاقٌ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيْ أَنْجَشَةُ , رُوَيْدَكَ سَوْقَكَ بِالْقَوَارِيرِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey and the camel driver was urging on the mounts of the Mothers of the Believers. He began to drive the animals quickly, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Anjasha! Drive gently with these glass vessels."
Hadith 27117
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يَأْتِيهَا فَيَقِيلُ عِنْدَهَا ، فَتَبْسُطُ لَهُ نِطَعًا ، فَيَقِيلُ عِنْدَهَا ، وَكَانَ كَثِيرَ الْعَرَقِ ، فَتَجْمَعُ عَرَقَهُ ، فَتَجْعَلُهُ فِي الطِّيبِ وَالْقَوَارِيرِ ، قَالَتْ : وَكَانَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to come to her house and sleep on her bed, while she was not there. One day, as usual, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and slept on her bed. When she came home, she saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was drenched in sweat. She absorbed that sweat with cotton and squeezed it into a bottle, mixing it with her perfume. She says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray on a mat.
Hadith 27118
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَتْ مُجَاوِرَةَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَتْ تَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهَا ، فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا رَأَتْ الْمَرْأَةُ أَنَّ زَوْجَهَا يُجَامِعُهَا فِي الْمَنَامِ ، أَتَغْتَسِلُ ؟ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ : تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكِ يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ ، فَضَحْتِ النِّسَاءَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ ، وَإِنَّا إِنْ نَسْأَلْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَمَّا أَشْكَلَ عَلَيْنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ نَكُونَ مِنْهُ عَلَى َعمْيَاءَ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ : " بَلْ أَنْتِ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكِ ، نَعَمْ يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَلَيْهَا الْغُسْلُ إِذَا وَجَدَتْ الْمَاءَ " ، فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , وَهَلْ لِلْمَرْأَةِ مَاءٌ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم : " فَأَنَّى يُشْبِهُهَا وَلَدُهَا ؟ هُنَّ شَقَائِقُ الرِّجَالِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) that once she asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "If a woman sees a dream like a man sees, what is the ruling?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a woman sees such a dream and experiences discharge, then she should perform ghusl (ritual bath)." Umm al-Mu'mineen Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Umm Sulaym! May your hands be dusted, you have disgraced all women in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: "Allah does not shy away from the truth. Asking the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about something good is better for us than remaining ignorant about it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Rather, may your hands be dusted. Yes, Umm Sulaym! If a woman sees such a dream, then ghusl becomes obligatory upon her." Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! Does a woman also have fluid?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then why does the child resemble the woman? Women are the counterparts of men."
Hadith 27119
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray on a mat.
