حَدِيثُ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتِ رُقَيْقَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهَا
Hadith of Umaymah bint Ruqayqah (may Allah be pleased with her)
Hadith 27006
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعَ ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتَ رُقَيْقَةَ ، تَقُولُ : بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نِسْوَةٍ ، فَلَقَّنَنَا : " فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ " , قُلْتُ : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ مِنَّا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا , قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، بَايِعْنَا , قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ ، إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ ، قَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umaymah bint Ruqaiqah that I, along with some Muslim women, presented myself before the Prophet (peace be upon him) to pledge allegiance. The Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed us to do so according to our ability and strength. I said: Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than we are to ourselves. O Messenger of Allah! Please accept our pledge. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "(Go, I have accepted the pledge of all of you.) I do not shake hands with women. My statement to a hundred women is the same as to one woman."
Hadith 27007
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتِ رُقَيْقَةَ التَّيْمِيَّةِ ، قَالَتْ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نِسْوَةٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ لِنُبَايِعَهُ ، فَقُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، جِئْنَا لِنُبَايِعَكَ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نُشْرِكَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا ، وَلَا نَسْرِقَ ، وَلَا نَزْنِيَ ، وَلَا نَقْتُلَ أَوْلَادَنَا ، وَلَا نَأْتِيَ بِبُهْتَانٍ نَفْتَرِيهِ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَأَرْجُلِنَا ، وَلَا نَعْصِيَكَ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ , قَالَتْ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَعْتُنَّ " , قَالَتْ : قُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا ، بَايِعْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : " اذْهَبْنَ ، فَقَدْ بَايَعْتُكُنَّ ، إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ ، كَقَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ " , قَالَتْ : وَلَمْ يُصَافِحْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَّا امْرَأَةً.
It is narrated from Hazrat Umaymah bint Ruqaiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) that I, along with some Muslim women, presented ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pledge allegiance (bay'ah). We all said: O Messenger of Allah! We have come to you to pledge allegiance on these conditions: that we will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, will not commit adultery, will not kill our children, will not fabricate any slander between our hands and feet, and will not disobey you in any good work. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed us: and do so as much as you are able and to the best of your ability. I said: Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than we are to ourselves. O Messenger of Allah! Accept our pledge. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(Go, I have accepted the pledge from all of you) I do not shake hands with women; my word to a hundred women is the same as to one woman." Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not shake hands with any of us women.
Hadith 27008
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتِ رُقَيْقَةَ , أَنَّها قَالَتْ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نِسْوَةٍ نُبَايِعُهُ ، فَقُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، نُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نُشْرِكَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا ، وَلَا نَسْرِقَ ، وَلَا نَزْنِيَ ، وَلَا نَأْتِيَ بِبُهْتَانٍ نَفْتَرِيهِ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَأَرْجُلِنَا ، وَلَا نَعْصِيَكَ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ , قَالَ : قَالَ : " فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَعْتُنَّ " , قَالَتْ : فَقُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنَّا بِأَنْفُسِنَا ، هَلُمَّ نُبَايِعُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ ، إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ ، كَقَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ " .

Hadith 27009
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتِ رُقَيْقَةَ ، قَالَتْ : أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نِسَاءٍ نُبَايِعُهُ ، فَأَخَذَ عَلَيْنَا مَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ أَنْ لا يُشْرِكْنَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا سورة الممتحنة آية 12 الْآيَةَ ، قَالَ : " فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَعْتُنَّ " , قُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا , قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلَا تُصَافِحُنَا ؟ قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ ، إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ، كَقَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ " .

Hadith 27010
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتَ رُقَيْقَةَ تُحَدِّثُ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَسْتُ أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ ، إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ، كَقَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ " .
It is narrated from Ummaymah bint Ruqaiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not shake hands with women, so my statement to women is the same as it is to one woman."
