حَدِيثُ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ أُخْتِ عُكَّاشَةَ بْنِ مِحْصَنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا
Hadith of Umm Qays bint Mihsan, the sister of 'Ukkashah ibn Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 26996
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ , قَالَتْ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِابْنٍ لِي لَمْ يَطْعَمْ ، فَبَالَ عَلَيْهِ ، " فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ ، فَرَشَّهُ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Qais bint Mihsan that once I brought my child, who had not yet started eating or drinking, to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The child urinated on the Prophet (peace be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) called for water and sprinkled it over that place.
Hadith 26997
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ أُخْتِ عُكَّاشَةَ بْنِ مِحْصَنٍ , قَالَتْ : دَخَلْتُ بِابْنٍ لِي عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَأْكُلْ الطَّعَامَ ، فَبَالَ ، فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَرَشَّهُ ، وَدَخَلْتُ بِابْنٍ لِي قَدْ أَعْلَقْتُ عَنْهُ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْعُذْرَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " عَلَامَ تَدْغَرْنَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ بِهَذَا الْعِلَاقِ ؟ عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذَا الْقُسْطِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً سُفْيَانُ : الْعُودِ الْهِنْدِيِّ فَإِنَّ بِهِ سَبْعَةَ أَشْفِيَةٍ ، مِنْهَا ذَاتُ الْجَنْبِ ، يُسْعَطُ مِنَ الْعُذْرَةِ ، وَيُلَدُّ مِنْ ذَاتِ الْجَنْبِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Qais bint Mihsan that once I brought my child, who had not yet started eating or drinking, to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The child urinated on the Prophet (peace be upon him), so the Prophet (peace be upon him) called for water and sprinkled it on that spot. Then, when I brought my son again, I was holding him by the throat. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Why do you strangle and cause pain to your children by holding them by the throat like this? Use Indian costus (Qust Hindi), for in it there is a cure for seven diseases, one of which is pleurisy (dhat al-janb). In case of throat swelling, Qust Hindi should be dropped into the nose, and in case of pleurisy, it should be dropped at the side of the mouth."
Hadith 26998
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ثَابِتٌ أَبُو الْمِقْدَامِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتَ مِحْصَنٍ , قَالَتْ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الثَّوْبِ يُصِيبُهُ دَمُ الْحَيْضِ ؟ قَالَ : " حُكِّيهِ بِضِلَعٍ ، وَاغْسِلِيهِ بِالْمَاءِ وَالنَّدِّ وَسِدْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Qais that I asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about the cloth which gets stained with menstrual blood. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Scrape it off with a rib bone and wash it with water and lotus leaves.
Hadith 26999
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ , وهَاشِمٌ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ مَوْلَى أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ , أَنَّها قَالَتْ : تُوُفِّيَ ابْنِي ، فَجَزِعْتُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقُلْتُ لِلَّذِي يَغْسِلُهُ : لَا تَغْسِلْ ابْنِي بِالْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ ، فَتَقْتُلَهُ ، فَانْطَلَقَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِقَوْلِهَا ، فَتَبَسَّمَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " مَا قَالَتْ ؟ طَالَ عُمْرُهَا " , قَالَ : فَلَا أَعْلَمُ امْرَأَةً عُمِّرَتْ مَا عُمِّرَتْ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Qais that one of my sons passed away, due to which I was very restless. In a state of unawareness, I said to the person giving him the ritual bath, "Do not bathe my son with cold water, otherwise he will die." Hazrat Ukasha (who was her brother) went to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and related her words. The Prophet (peace be upon him) smiled and said, "Whoever has said this sentence, may her life be long." The narrator says, "I have not seen any woman older than her."
Hadith 27000
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّْ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ الْأَسَدِيَّةِ أُخْتِ عُكَّاشَةَ , قَالَتْ : جِئْتُ بِابْنٍ لِي قَدْ أَعْلَقْتُ عَنْهُ ، أَخَافُ أَنْ يَكُونَ بِهِ الْعُذْرَةُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَامَ تَدْغَرْنَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ بِهَذِهِ الْعَلَائِقِ ؟ عَلَيْكُنَّ بِهَذَا الْعُودِ الْهِنْدِيِّ ، قَالَ يَعْنِي الْكُسْتَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ سَبْعَةَ أَشْفِيَةٍ ، مِنْهَا ذَاتُ الْجَنْبِ " ثُمَّ أَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَبِيَّهَا ، فَوَضَعَهُ فِي حِجْرِهِ , فَبَالَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَنَضَحَهُ ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ الصَّبِيُّ بَلَغَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الطَّعَامَ , قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : فَمَضَتْ السُّنَّةُ بِأَنْ يُرَشَّ بَوْلُ الصَّبِيِّ ، وَيُغْسَلَ بَوْلُ الْجَارِيَةِ , قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : فَيُسْتَسْعَطُ لِلْعُذْرَةِ ، وَيُلَدُّ لِذَاتِ الْجَنْبِ.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ أَبِي الْمِقْدَامِ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ , قَالَتْ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , عَنْ دَمِ الْحَيْضِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ ، فَقَالَ : " حُكِّيهِ وَلَوْ بِضِلَعٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) that I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the cloth which gets menstrual blood on it, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Scrape it off with a rib bone."
Hadith 27002
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ دِينَارٍ مَوْلَى أُمِّ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ , قَالَتْ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , عَنْ دَمِ الْحَيْضِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ ، فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلِيهِ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ ، وَحُكِّيهِ بِضِلَعٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) that I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about a garment that gets menstrual blood on it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Scrape it off with a rib bone and wash it with water and lotus leaves."
Hadith 27003
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ , أَنَّ أُمَّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتَ مِحْصَنٍ إِحْدَى بَنِي أَسَدِ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ اللَّائِي بَايَعْنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَأَخْبَرَتْنِي أَنَّهَا أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِابْنٍ لَهَا لَمْ يَبْلُغْ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الطَّعَامَ , فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَقَالَ : " عَلَامَ تَدْغَرْنَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ ؟ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Qais bint Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with her) that once I came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bringing with me a child of mine who had not yet started eating food... Then the narrator mentioned the complete hadith.
Hadith 27004
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، وَقَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّْ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ , أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ بِابْنٍ لَهَا وَقَدْ أَعْلَقَتْ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْعُذْرَةِ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَامَ تَدْغَرْنَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ بِهَذِهِ الْعُلُقِ ؟ عَلَيْكُنَّ بِهَذَا الْعُودِ الْهِنْدِيِّ ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِ سَبْعَةَ أَشْفِيَةٍ ، مِنْهَا ذَاتُ الْجَنْبِ " , ثُمَّ أَخَذَ الصَّبِيَّ ، فَبَالَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَنَضَحَهُ , قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : مَضَتْ السُّنَّةُ بِذَلِكَ.
