Abdullah bin Harith says that once Amir Muawiyah led us in the Asr prayer, and after that, he sent a messenger to Hazrat Maymunah and another man behind him. Hazrat Maymunah said that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) was dispatching an army, and at that time, the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not have any mounts. After a short while, some animals from zakat and charity arrived, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) began distributing them among those people. During this engagement, the time for Asr prayer came. The Prophet (peace be upon him) had a blessed habit of offering two rak‘ahs or as many units of prayer as Allah willed before the Asr prayer. On that day, after offering the Asr prayer, the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed those two rak‘ahs which he used to offer before, and it was the habit of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that whenever he did any act, he liked to be consistent in it.
