حَدِيثُ أُخْتِ مَسْعُودِ ابْنِ الْعَجْمَاءِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadith of the sister of Mas'ud ibn al-A'jma' from the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 26792
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ ، أَنَّ خَالَتَهُ أُخْتَ مَسْعُودِ ابْنِ الْعَجْمَاءِ حدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهَا , قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَخْزُومِيَّةِ الَّتِي سَرَقَتْ قَطِيفَةً : نَفْدِيهَا بِأَرْبَعِينَ أُوقِيَّةً ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَأَنْ تَطَّهَّرَ خَيْرٌ لَهَا " , فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَقُطِعَتْ يَدُهَا ، وَهِيَ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ ، أَوْ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَسَدِ.
Mas'ud bin Ajma'ah's sister says that their father submitted to the Prophet (peace be upon him) regarding the Makhzumi woman who had committed theft, that they were prepared to offer forty uqiyah as ransom for her. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that it is better for her to be purified. Thus, on the order of the Prophet (peace be upon him), her hand was cut off. That woman belonged to either Banu Abd al-Ashhal or Banu Asad.
