حَدِيثُ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا
Hadith of Zaynab bint Jahsh, wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him) (may Allah be pleased with her)
Hadith 26751
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ , وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى التَّوْءَمَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِنِسَائِهِ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ : " هَذِهِ ، ثُمَّ ظُهُورَ الْحُصْرِ " , قَالَ : فَكُنَّ كُلُّهُنَّ يَحْجُجْنَ إِلَّا زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ ، وَسَوْدَةَ بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ ، وَكَانَتَا تَقُولَانِ : وَاللَّهِ لَا تُحَرِّكُنَا دَابَّةٌ بَعْدَ أَنْ سَمِعْنَا ذَلِكَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : قَالَتَا : وَاللَّهِ لَا تُحَرِّكُنَا دَابَّةٌ بَعْدَ قَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَذِهِ ، ثُمَّ ظُهُورَ الْحُصْرِ " , وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ : بَعْدَ أَنْ سَمِعْنَا ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the pure wives on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage: "You are performing this Hajj with me; after this, you must remain in your homes." Thus, despite all the pure wives having performed Hajj, Hazrat Zainab bint Jahsh and Sawda bint Zam'a would not go (for Hajj again) and would say: "By Allah, after hearing this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), our animal can never move (for Hajj again)."
Hadith 26752
حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ , أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ " تُرَجِّلُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَتْ مَرَّةً : كُنْتُ أُرَجِّلُ رَأْسَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مِخْضَبٍ مِنْ صُفْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) that she used to comb the hair of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was performing ablution in a brass tub.
Hadith 26753
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ : " يَتَوَضَّأُ فِي مِخْضَبٍ مِنْ صُفْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zainab that she used to comb the hair of the Prophet (peace be upon him) while the Prophet (peace be upon him) was performing ablution in a brass tub.
Hadith 26754
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ , أَنَّهَا دَخَلَتْ عَلَى زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ , يَقُولُ : " لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ , أَنْ تُحِدَّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثِ لَيَالٍ , إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zainab that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: It is not permissible for any woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for any deceased person for more than three days except for her husband, for whom she will mourn for four months and ten days.
