Musnad of ‘Alqamah bin Ramthah al-Balawi
Hadith 24009/73
حدثنا يحيي بن إِسحاق ، أَخبرنا لَيث بن سعد ، عن يزيدَ ابن أَبي حَبِيب ، عن زُهير بن قيس البَلَوِي ، عن عَلْقمة بن رِمْثة أَن رسول الله صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَّيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ عَمْرَو بن العاص إلى البحرينِ ، فخرج رسولُ الله صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَّيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ في سَريَّةٍ وخرجنا معه ، فَنَعسَ رسولُ الله صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَّيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فقال : " يَرحَمُ الله عَمْرًا " ، قال : فتذاكَرْنا كلَّ من اسمُه عَمرٌو ، قال : فَنَعسَ رسولُ الله صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَّيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فقال : " يَرحَمُ الله عَمْرًا " ، قال : ثم نَعَسَ الثالثةَ ، فاستَيقظَ ، فقال : " يَرحَم الله عَمْرًا " ، فقلنا : يا رسولَ الله ، من عمروٌ هذا ؟ قال : " عَمرُو بن العاصِ " ، قلنا : وما شأْنُه ؟ قال : " كنتُ إِذا نَدَبْتُ الناسَ إِلى الصَّدقة ، جاءَ فأجزَلَ منها ، فأَقول : يا عمرُو ، أنَّى لك هذا ؟ قال : مِن عند الله ، وصَدَقَ عَمرٌو ، إِنَّ له عند الله خيرًا كثيرًا " ، قال زهيرُ بن قيس : لما قُبِضَ رسولُ الله صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَّيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قلت : لأَلزَمنَّ هذا الذي قال رسولُ الله صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَّيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ له عند اللهِ خيرًا كثيرًا " حتى أَموتَ
Yahya ibn Ishaq narrated to us, informed us by Layth ibn Sa'd, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Zuhayr ibn Qays al-Balawi, from Alqamah ibn Rimthah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent Amr ibn al-As to Bahrain. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went out on an expedition and we went out with him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, dozed off and said: "May Allah have mercy on Amr." He said: We began to recall everyone whose name was Amr. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, dozed off and said: "May Allah have mercy on Amr." Then he dozed off a third time, then awoke and said: "May Allah have mercy on Amr." We said: O Messenger of Allah, who is this Amr? He said: "Amr ibn al-As." We said: And what about him? He said: "Whenever I called people to charity, he would come and give generously from it, so I would say: O Amr, where did you get this? He said: From Allah. And Amr spoke the truth. Indeed, he has with Allah much good." Zuhayr ibn Qays said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away, I said: I will adhere to this one about whom the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, he has with Allah much good," until I die.
