حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي غِفَارٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of a man from Banu Ghifar (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 23686
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ جَالِسًا إِلَى جَنْبِ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَمَرَّ شَيْخٌ جَمِيلٌ مِنْ بَنِي غِفَارٍ وَفِي أُذُنَيْهِ صَمَمٌ أَوْ قَالَ : وَقْرٌ ، أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ حُمَيْدٌ ، فَلَمَّا أَقْبَلَ ، قَالَ : يَا ابْنَ أَخِي ، أَوْسِعْ لَهُ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ ، فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ صَحِبَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَاءَ حَتَّى جَلَسَ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ حُمَيْدٌ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ الَّذِي حَدَّثْتَنِي ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ الشَّيْخُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُنْشِئُ السَّحَابَ فَيَنْطِقُ أَحْسَنَ الْمَنْطِقِ ، وَيَضْحَكُ أَحْسَنَ الضَّحِكِ " .
Ibrahim bin Sa’d narrates from his father that once I was sitting in the mosque beside Humaid bin Abdur Rahman when an elderly man from Banu Ghifar, who was handsome and a little hard of hearing, passed by. Humaid sent a man to call him. When he came, Humaid said to me, "Nephew! Please make a little space, for he is a companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him)." So he came and sat between me and Humaid. Humaid requested him, "Please narrate the hadith which you related to me from the Prophet (peace be upon him)." He said, "I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: Allah Almighty creates the clouds, speaks in the best manner, and smiles in the best manner."
Hadith 23687
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنِ الصُّنَابِحِيِّ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْغُلُوطَاتِ " ، قَالَ الْأَوْزَاعِّيُّ : الْغُلُوطَاتِ : شِدَادُ الْمَسَائِلِ وَصِعَابُهَا.
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade "ghuluwat." Imam Awza'i (may Allah have mercy on him) explains its meaning as those issues in which there is severity and difficulty.
Hadith 23688
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنِ الصُّنَابِحِيِّ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ " نَهَى عَنِ الْغُلُوطَاتِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade "Ghuluwwat" (overly complicated or hair-splitting questions).
