حَدِيثُ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
Hadith of Harithah ibn al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 23677
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ ، قَالَ : مَرَرْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَقَاعِدِ ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ أَجَزْتُ ، فَلَمَّا رَجَعْتُ وَانْصَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " هَلْ رَأَيْتَ الَّذِي كَانَ مَعِي ؟ " قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّهُ جِبْرِيلُ وَقَدْ رَدَّ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Haritha bin Nu’man (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I passed by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). With the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him), who was sitting in his place. I greeted them with salam and moved ahead. When I returned, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was returning. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Did you see the man who was with me?" I replied, "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "That was Jibreel (peace be upon him), and he replied to your salam."
Hadith 23678
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الرِّجَالِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ مَوْلَى غُفْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَتَّخِذُ أَحَدُكُمْ السَّائِمَةَ فَيَشْهَدُ الصَّلَاةَ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ ، فَتَتَعَذَّرُ عَلَيْهِ سَائِمَتُهُ ، فَيَقُولُ : لَوْ طَلَبْتُ لِسَائِمَتِي مَكَانًا هُوَ أَكْلَأُ مِنْ هَذَا ، فَيَتَحَوَّلُ وَلَا يَشْهَدُ إِلَّا الْجُمُعَةَ ، فَتَتَعَذَّرُ عَلَيْهِ سَائِمَتُهُ ، فَيَقُولُ : لَوْ طَلَبْتُ لِسَائِمَتِي مَكَانًا هُوَ أَكْلَأُ مِنْ هَذَا ، فَيَتَحَوَّلُ فَلَا يَشْهَدُ الْجُمُعَةَ وَلَا الْجَمَاعَةَ ، فَيُطْبَعُ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Haritha (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: One of you acquires livestock and continues to participate in congregational prayer for some time. Then, due to the increase in his livestock, he faces difficulties and thinks that he should find a place for his animals with more grass than this. So, he moves from there and starts participating only in the Friday prayer. After some time, he faces difficulties again and, according to his previous thinking, moves from there as well, and neither attends the congregation nor the Friday prayer. Thus, a seal is set upon his heart.
